UNIT 3 My Country and English-speaking Countries
Lesson 20 The U.S.
一、教学设计思路
本课的主要教学内容是有关美国的一些信息。本课中，教师可以通过“戏：猜国家－小组接力赛”对本单元前几课内容进行复习，并导入本课教学；然后通过地图，the Statue of Liberty视频等为媒体进行新课的教学，并在让学生在简单了解美国后，分组完成任务进一步了解更多的美国代表性事物；最后，通过游戏进行巩固。
二、教学目标
（一）知识
听说认读U.S.，know。
了解有关美国的信息。
（二）能力
能够用英语简单介绍加拿大。
（三）情感
培养学生学习英语的兴趣。并通过对加拿大有关信息的学习，培养学生了解英语国家自然风光及文化的兴趣。
三、教学重点
听说认读U.S.，know。
口语简单介绍美国。
四、教学媒体
1．世界地图、美国－加拿大地图。
2．不同国家国旗或图片。
3．Niagara Falls，the Statue of Liberty等视频资源。
4．录音机，磁带（音频资源）
五、教学过程
1．导入
1）Daily Greeting.
2）游戏：猜国家－小组接力赛（各个小组进行抢答）
教师播放视频或出示图片，让学生猜国家：
如教师出示长城图片
T: Where is it from
S: China
T: What do they speak in China
S: Chinese.
…
教师播放Niagara Falls视频，
T: Where is it from
S: Canada.
T: What do they speak in Canada
S: English and French.
教师接着出示其它有关这两个国家的图片或播放有关视频，比赛进行。
2．呈现新课
1）教师the Statue of Liberty视频，
T: Do you know what it is
S: …
T: Where is it from
如果学生能回答是America或U.S., 教师要给予学生表扬，并鼓励学生。
如果学生回答不上来，教师可以继续引导，提高学生的学习兴趣：
T: Do you want to know where it is from
Ss: Yes.
T: Ok. Now, please look at the map.
教师出示世界地图，指着加拿大说，
T: What is it
Ss: Canada.
T: Good. It’s Canada. Who live in Canada
S1: Jenny and Danny.
T: Excellent. Look at here.（教师指着的图上美国的位置）This country is south to Canada, Yes or no
Ss: Yes.
教师再次播放the Statue of Liberty视频，
T: It is very famous in this country. Guess What is it
教师引导学生说出the United States.和the Statue of Liberty。并告诉学生其缩写U.S.
T: In China, we speak… In Canada, they speak…（让学生接着教师的话说出Chinese等。）
T: In the United States, people speak English, too.
T: Can you find the capital city of the U.S.
当学生找到美国首都时，
T: Yes, it is the capital city of the U.S. It is Washington, D.C. Washington, D.C. is the capital city of the U.S.（让学生跟读几遍）。
2）In the U.S.
教师出示不同国家的国旗，让学生辨认
T: Which is the flag of China/ Canada What colour is it （通过复习上节课内容，引出本课）
Which is the flag of the U.S. What colour is it
Can you list other things of the U.S.
将学生分组讨论其它美国的事物。
给学生充分的时间讨论后，教师通过演示图片等，让各小组检查自己的讨论结果。
3．趣味操练
1）ay "Memory Card" with the cards for China, Canada, U.S., English, Chinese, map, north, south, east, west, and capital city. (See "Games. ") As the students make pairs of cards, they say "I know this. This is ___. "
2）Play a variation of "Stop! Go!" (See "Games. ") When you stop the students, call out a country (China or Canada). The students then say to the nearest person:
Hello! My name is ___. I live in China/Canada. I speak Chinese/English.
4．课堂评价
①教师指导学生做活动手册的相关练习。
②教师根据学生课堂参与的情况，对不同能力的学生制定不同的“小星星”标准，使每个学生都有得到“小星星”的机会和能力，以此激发学生的努力。
③搞小竞赛，让学生参与评价，进行小组互评，从而激发学生的积极性。
5．课后作业
将the U.S., China和Canada进行对比。
