Step1 Lead-in
Option One
Collect the names of great people and great inventions of ancient China you know.
Give a presentation on a great person you like best.
Option Two
Show the pictures on the screen to students and let them talk bout these philosophere of ancient China.

Use some of the words to complete the gaps. You may need to change the words in some way.

1. Further discussion
Group students into fours and discuss what kind of idea Confucius was in favor of.. Let them discuss a few minutes

We all know Confucius had many ideas. And many students have given us some of them.

Step1 Revision
Translate the following sentences into English. We should use the attributive clause.
Step2 Vocabulary and speaking

First read the sentence beginnings and think about what might follow. Listen to the tape again. Try to write down the answers.

After listening, we known many important inventions in ancient China.

I think the invention of the bike is very important. I know it is not invented by Chinese, but it has been playing an important part in human history. In the past ,many only used their feet to travel. So they couldn’t go very far. After the bike was invented, it became very convenient for traveling. Men were not very tired, even though they went far away from home……

Today we have learnt many new words especially the sound that links the words, which is very important for our English study. We have also trained our listening skills. We have known how to get the general idea and how to get the detailed information from the listening materials.
