【教材分析】
本课为Module
2的第一单元，主要内容是托尼对自己家乡和祖国的介绍。托尼首先详细描述了自己的家乡——剑桥的地理位置、人口以及著名的剑桥大学，接着又将剑桥与英国首都伦敦进行了对比，介绍了伦敦的风景名胜。最后，托尼对整个英格兰的美景进行了概述，并指出了到英国旅游的注意事项。本单元的主要语言项目是形容词的规则比较级形式及其构成。本单元的任务要求学生对家乡的两个场所进行比较和汇报，需要学生捕捉一些细节信息，让学生有机会综合运用本模块所学的语言知识，并提升其对家乡和祖国的热爱之情。
【学情分析】
初二上学期的学生经过一年多的学习，有了一定的英语基础知识和听说能力，正逐渐向读、写过渡，同时，学生们对英语学习还保持着较浓厚的兴趣。经过一年的新课程理念的熏陶及实践，有了初步的自主、合作、探究、实验的能力。但本课谈论的剑桥与伦敦对部分学生来说可能并不熟悉，因而需要老师给出一定的背景知识作为铺垫。
