Ⅰ. 教材分析:
本课的内容是外研版《英语》(新标准)高中第三册(必修3)Module 4 Sandstorms in Asia本模块介绍了亚洲(主要是中国)沙尘暴的情况,并引入了与沙尘暴和环保有关的词汇。要求学生了解沙尘暴方面的知识并掌握相关词汇,培养学生用英语谈论沙尘暴及环保的语言技能。Introduction介绍与“沙尘暴”有关的词汇,可以让学生初步熟悉这些词的意义,为以后的各项学习活动做好准备。Reading and Vocabulary 该部分介绍了“亚洲的沙尘暴”。围绕着课文学生可以增进对沙尘暴危害性的了解,熟悉有关沙尘暴的词汇。
Ⅱ. 学情分析:
高中的学生注意力有一定的稳定性,观察能力很强,具有一定的目的性,系统性和全面性,已经初步实现从具体思维向抽象思维的过渡。他们喜欢富有个性化的教学设计,喜欢接受新鲜事物。同时,自我意识增强,拥有强烈的主观能动性。他们更是拥有很强烈的自我展现意识与欲望,不但在乎别人对自己的评价,更渴望得到别人的关注和赞赏。他们已具有了一定的自主合作和探究的能力,具有了一定的英语语言知识和英语应用的能力,具备了基本的英语思考和英语表达的基本技能。因此,设计这节课时,我充分考虑到学生的主体性,把自己作为与学生一起探讨的一员,以亦师亦友的身份走进他们,以基础的语言启发他们,以轻松的话题开始,以愉快的交流展开合作,充分创造机会让同学们都拥有成功的喜悦,在和谐的氛围中探究并完成教学任务。
Ⅲ. 教学目标:

Period 1 Reading – Basketball
Learning Procedures
Step 1: Introduction【合作探究】
Lead-in: Look at some pictures about Gymnastics Match. And ask the students the following questions.
1. Do you remember that day
2. What was the weather like that day

Acitvity 2 on page 31: Work in pairs. Discuss these statements and decide which statement is false.
1. Sandstorms begin in desert areas.
2. Deserts are created by climate changes.
3. Deserts are also created because people cut down trees and dig up grass.
4. Sandstorms from Asia have blown across the Pacific Ocean to America.
5. Sandstorms can’t be prevented.
6. The inland region has more sandstorms than the one near the sea.

Step 2: Reading【个人探究】
1. Warming up
Ask the students to look at some pictures about sandstorms.

2. Listening
First, give two questions about this passage.
1). What is a sandstorm
2). Which two people were mentioned in the passage
Next, Get the students to listen to the tape , then find the answers before listening.

3. Fast reading
Ask the students to read the passage fast and loudly and to finish the exercise in 名师伴你行 on page 50, to find the main idea of each paragraph.

Step3: Discussion【合作探究】
If you were mayor of Yan’an how can you prevent sandstorms
Ask students to discuss the questions to understand sandstorms better. Show them some pictures about the sandstorms and teach them to do their best to help it and do something from now on. Everyone should do something to love and protect our home. I mean to make them realize: The earth is in danger!
(教学步骤说明):这一环节能够提高学生的口语交际能力,要求学生流利地说出含有本模块词语和结构的句子并且表达出自己的想法意见。本环节可以拓展学生的思路,通过对沙尘暴的了解,从而增强学生的环保意识,同时也可以帮助他们加深和巩固对单词的记忆。
Step4:Homework
最后放一首英文歌曲,名字叫“heal the world”,歌曲的主题也是: “make the earth a better place.”, 学生们跟着优美的旋律唱起来。唱完后布置写作作业。Homework:用英语写一篇短文,指出沙尘暴的原因和危害,呼吁人们保护环境。
(教学步骤说明):写文章既让学生把握了文章信息,又培养了其写作能力,一举两得。而且可为第二课时的语言学习打好基础。
教学案例反思:
通过播放图片既可以引起学生的兴趣又可以使学生对沙尘暴有感性的认识,对课文在整体内容上有一个初步的了解,为下一步阅读材料打下基础。出示有关的画面,唤起学生的阅读兴趣,加深对阅读对象背景的了解。借助图画,使学生的注意力很快集中起来,马上投入到课堂中,通过看图导入启动还可以培养学生的观察能力,思维力和想象能力。
本节课在听、说、读、写四个方面都对学生进行了训练,重点对学生进行了阅读方法指导,如注意过渡词、线索引导等,取得了一定效果。
“heal the world”这首歌刚好与这节课的主题相吻合,恰到好处,效果非常好,使课堂教学内容得以升华。从英语的角度来说,这首歌和作业的设计使整个教学流程达到了听、说、读、写完美的结合。从而获得和加强了学生实际应用英语的能力,使学生感悟学习英语的乐趣。
