【教材分析】
本节课的第一部分Cultural Corner是一位美国中学生所写的一封信,信中介绍了美国中学的体制和课外活动;第二部分是Workbook中的阅读部分,主要讲述了中学的一些课外活动及其重要性,通过阅读这两部分,使学生了解了美国中学的学制和中学生丰富多彩的课外活动,从而使学生更加热爱和珍惜学校的学习生活,积极参加课外活动,培养健康的情趣和爱好,陶冶自己的情操,达到身心健康,全面发展,学会各种技能和提高自身素质的目的。第三部分是Workbook中的词汇部分,主要是复习和巩固本单元所学的一些词汇,他们的动、名词形式及其应用。
【学情分析】
学生由初中刚进入高中阶段的学习,在知识方面存在着衔接性和延续性的问题。学生在初中阶段掌握了一定的基础知识和基本技能,也养成了学习英语的良好习惯,但在“读”的方面还存在着问题:一是“读”的速度慢,摄入信息量少;二是不能准确概括和理解文章段落大意;三是如何从获取的信息中筛选出“有用”的信息。因此,在教学过程中,注意初中阶段与高中阶段知识的衔接,使学生尽快适应高中的学习。同时,在教学活动中,采用相应的教学手段和方法,有意识地诱导学生“读”的兴趣,激发学生的学习热情,组织学生按教师要求和要达到的教学目的进行阅读训练,从而提高“读”的速度和能力。
【教学目标】
Ⅰ 知识与技能
通过学生自己阅读,和同学之间讨论,学会概括课文大意;归纳、提取“有用”的信息,并加以分析、整理,完成老师为进行阅读所设计的问题,达到有效阅读;学会获取信息和使用信息,逐步提高阅读的速度和分析问题、解决问题的能力。同时,在读的过程中掌握be divided into, the first of which, take part in, be free to do sth., graduate, spend…in等词和短语的意思和用法。
Ⅱ 过程与方法
首先通过幻灯向同学们展示学校场景好一些课外活动,然后提出与文章有关的问题,让学生带着问题分别进行第一部分和第二部分的阅读,并通过幻灯复习、巩固本单元的一些词汇及其动、名词形式和用法。
Ⅲ 情感、态度和价值观
通过本节课的学习,使学生了解美国中学的学制和课外活动的情况,培养学生的学习兴趣,激发学生的学习热情,使学生能积极主动地投入学习和参加课外活动。在丰富学习生活的同时,提高自身素质,全面发展, 逐步掌握各种技能。

【教学方法】
全程利用多媒体作为教学辅助,使教学内容情景化,教学活动具有生动性。用幻灯展示中学场景和课外活动,激发学生的兴趣;采用任务性教学法,合作探究法,是教学任务明确,学生在融洽和谐的气氛中学习。
【教学思路】
通过幻灯向学生展示中学的场景和一些课外活动形式,使学生想了解更多这方面的情况,这样是课堂富有情景化和生动性,增添了学生进一步学习的欲望,激发了学生学习的积极性,然后带着问题进行阅读,增加了阅读的有效性,使阅读有的放矢;通过讨论完成所设计的阅读理解题,达到了解和检测学生阅读情况的目的。
【教学过程】
Step I Lead-in (导入)
Show some pictures of school and school activities. While showing on, ask the students what they are on the pictures and what activities they are.
Purpose of the design (设计意图):为了吸引学生的注意力,以引起学的兴趣并导入下面的内容。

(I) Pre-reading (读前)
Show the question on the screen.
Question:
What’s similar and what’s different in the American and Chinese school systems?
(Ⅱ) Reading (阅读)
Ask the students to read Cultural Corner quickly and try to find the answer to the question.
(Ⅲ) Discussion (讨论)
Ask the student to talk about the similar and the different with each other. After discussion, ask the student to give the answer to the question.

Purpose of Design (设计意图): 学生带着问题进行快速阅读,以明确阅读的任务和要获取的“有用”信息;读后通过相互讨论,使学生进一步加深对文章的理解,同时也清楚地知道自己是否已获得了“有用”的信息。

(I) Pre-reading (读前)
Show the question on the screen.

Ask the student read the passage quickly and try to find the answers to questions.

Show Activity 6-9 on the screen one by one. Complete them together with the whole class according to the demands.
Purpose of the design (设计意图):用幻灯依次把Activity6---9呈现出来,增添了练习的可视性和趣味性,有助于学生避免做练习时出现的枯燥、乏味的感觉,产生厌烦情绪。
