Healthy relationships are fun and make you feel good about yourself. The relationships that you make in your teenage years will be a special part of your life. They will teach you some of the most important lessons about who you are. This may help you understand different kinds of relationships, what makes each relationship special, and how to communicate in a positive way.
What makes a relationship healthy?
Communication and Sharing: The most important part of any healthy relationships between two people is being able to talk and listen to each other. You and the other person can find out what your common interests are. You can share your feelings with the other person and trust that he or she will be there to listen to you and support you. In healthy relationships, people don't lie. Communication is based on honesty and trust. By listening carefully and sharing your thoughts and feelings with other people, you show them that they play an important part in your life.
Respect and Trust: In healthy relationships, you learn to respect and trust the important people in your life.Disagreements may still happen, but you learn to stay calm and talk about how you feel. Talking calmly helps you to understand the real reason for not getting along. It makes it much easier to figure out how to fix them. In healthy relationships, working through disagreements often makes the relationships stronger. In healthy relationships, people respect each other for who they are. This includes respecting and listening to yourself and your feelings so you can set boundaries and feel comfortable. You will find that you learn to understand experiences and feelings of others as well as having them understand your experiences and feelings.
How do I know that I have a healthy relationship with someone?
You know that you are in a healthy relationship with someone because you feel good about yourself when you are around that person. Unhealthy relationships can make you feel sad, angry, scared, or worried.
Healthy peer relationships involve an equal amount of giving and taking in the relationship. In unhealthy relationships, there is an unfair balance. You may often feel that you are giving the other person more attention than that he or she gives to you.21cnjy.com
You should feel safe around the other person and feel that you can trust him or her with your secrets. In a healthy relationship, you like to spend time with the other person, instead of feeling that you have to spend time with him or her.

Sixteen years ago I learned this lesson in the back of a New York City taxi cab. Here's what happened. I hopped in a taxi, and we took off for Grand Central Station. We were driving in the right lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car's back end by just inches!
The driver of the other car, who almost caused a big accident, started yelling bad words at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was friendly. So, I said, “Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!”And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call “The Law of the Garbage Truck”.
Many people are like garbage (rubbish) trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let them, they'll dump it on you. When someone wants to dump on you, don't take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You'll be happy with what you did.【版权所有:21教育】
I started thinking, how often do I let garbage trucks run right over me? And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets? It was that day I said, “I'm not going to do anymore.”
Good leaders know they have to be ready for their next meeting. Good parents know that they have to welcome their children home from school with hugs and kisses. Leaders and parents know that they have to be fully present, and at their best for the people they care about. The bottom line is that successful people do not let Garbage Trucks take over their day. What about you? What would happen in your life, starting today, if you let more garbage trucks pass you by? Here's my bet. You'll be happier. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So, Love the people who treat you right. Forget about the ones who don't.

Ⅳ.阅读简答
In choosing a friend, we should be very careful. A good friend can help you study. But how do I know when I have found a good friend? I look for certain qualities (品质) of character, especially understanding, honesty and reliability (可靠).
Above all else, I look for understanding in a friend. A good friend tries to understand how another person is feeling. He puts himself in the other person's place, and he tries to think of ways to be helpful. He is also a good listener.
At the same time, a good friend is honest. He does not look for faults in others. He notices their good points. In short, a friend will try to understand me and accept me.
Sometimes you will meet “fair weather friends”.They will be with you as long as you have money or luck, but when you are down, they will run away. So, I think another quality of a good friend is reliability. I can always depend on a good friend. If I need a favor, he will do his best to help me. If I am in trouble, he will not run away from me.
There is a fourth quality that makes a friend special. A special friend is someone with whom we can have fun. A good friend likes the same things I like. He likes to laugh with me. That is how we share in the joy of being friends. And I know that he is looking for the same quality in me.
When I meet someone who is reliable, honest, and understanding, I know I've found a good friend!

Staying positive through the cold season could be the best defence against getting sick, a new American study suggests.21*cnjy*com
In an experiment that exposed healthy volunteers to a cold or flu virus, researchers found that people with a generally sunny emotion were less likely to fall ill.【来源:21cnj*y.co*m】
The findings, published in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine, build on evidence that a “positive emotional style” can help ward (防护)of the common cold and other illnesses.
“People with a positive emotional style may have different immune (免疫的) responses to the virus,” explained lead study author Dr Sheldon Cohen of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. “And when they do get a cold, they may experience their illness as less severe.”
Cohen and his colleagues had found in a previous study that happier people seemed less susceptible (易受影响的) to catching a cold, but some questions remained as to whether the emotional quality itself had the effect.
For the new study, the researchers had 193 healthy adults complete standard measures of personality qualities, physical health and “emotional style”.
Those who tended to be happy, energetic and easygoing were judged as having a positive emotional style, while those who were often unhappy, tense and hostile (敌意的)had a negative style.
Afterwards, the researchers gave them nose drops containing either a cold virus or a particular flu virus that causes flulike symptoms (症状).Over the next six days the volunteers reported on any aches, pains, sneezing they had. Cohen and his colleagues found that happy people were less likely to develop a cold.
What's more, when happy folks did develop a cold, their symptoms were less severe than would be expected based on objective (客观的) measures.
1.The purpose of Cohen's new study was to________.
A.find effective ways to fight illnesses
B.test people's different immune responses to cold virus
C.tell differences between happy people and unhappy people
D.make sure that immune system was related to emotional style

2.How did Cohen reach his conclusion?
A.By comparing the experimental results of different groups.
B.By asking the volunteers to complete a form.
C.By collecting data among people with a cold.
D.By observing the volunteers' symptoms.
解析:选A。事实细节题。由倒数四段可知,Cohen在实验前让志愿者完成一些标准测量,在接下来的实验中志愿者在六天内报告他们的症状,说明他是把不同情绪类型的实验者的结果作了比较。
3.Cohen's study showed that ________.
A.emotional style is difficult to change
B.happy people are immune to cold virus
C.people's attitudes toward illnesses are different
D.happiness itself helps protect people from cold symptoms

After being born at the end of 1932, Mr. Cameron senior suffered a lot with both legs shortened below the knee and his feet twisted. He went under numerous operations to ease his pain, and eventually both limbs (下肢)had to be cut off. But despite his disability and later losing the sight in one eye, Mr. Cameron still gained a successful career as a stockbroker (股票经纪人).
After moving to England from Scotland as a child, he married Mary and the couple raised four children at the family home in Peasemore, Berks.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph two years ago, the_Tory_leader described the experience of growing up with a father with a disability. He told how once they were on holiday in Cornwall, he overheard someone rudely saying, “That guy's wearing funny boots.” Mr. Cameron said he thought to himself, “That's odd, no one ever says that.”
In an ITV interview before the general election, Mr. Cameron said of his father, “He's an amazingly brave man because he was born with no heels — quite a disability. But the glass with him was halffull, normally with something alcoholic. I think I got my sense of optimism(乐观) from him.”
Mr. Cameron also appeared with his parents at an event and said that they understood his idea for “a Big Society”.
“They showed me how a big society could work every day I was growing up,” he said,“I know what are my responsibilities.” Mr. Cameron's disability is not thought to have played any part in his death aged 77. Friends said he was “so proud” to see his son become Prime Minister in May, and had visited 10 Downing Street and Chequers. However, the family's various holiday plans meant that he did not get to meet his latest granddaughter Florence, who was delivered to the PM's wife Samantha last month.2-1-c-n-j-y

Dear Peter,
It's a good idea to run an “Afterschool Class” for students to study English together. In my opinion, you'd better focus on the learners' ability of speaking English. Most of Chinese students' ability of speaking English is quite low. You know, more and more students choose to study abroad after they graduate from middle school, and it's just because they want to study English in a real English culture. So it's nice for them to be with a native speaker. As for the students' level, I think Senior 2 students can be more interested, because they have a strong desire to learn more about the culture of other countries, making good preparations for work. And there are some other things you need to consider, such as the materials, the length of the course and so on.21教育网

Ⅳ.阅读理解
I walked alongside my father, clutching his right hand. All my clothes were new: the black shoes, the green school uniform, and the red cap. They did not make me happy, however, as this was the day I was to be thrown into school for the first time. I tried in vain to convince him that I did nothing wrong all the way, but it didn't help.
When we arrived at the gate we could see the courtyard, vast and full of boys and girls. I hesitated and clung to his hand, but he gently pushed me from him. “Be a man”, he said,“today you truly begin your life. You will find me waiting for you when it's time to leave.”
I took a few steps. Then the faces of the boys and girls came into view. I did not know a single one of them, and none of them knew me. I felt I was a stranger who had lost his way. But then some boys began to glance at me in curiosity, and one of them came over and asked, “Who brought you?”
“My father,” I whispered.
“My father's dead,” he said simply.
I did not know what to say. The gate was now closed. Some of the children burst into tears. The bell rang. A lady came along, followed by a group of men. The men began sorting us into ranks. We were formed into an intricate pattern in the great courtyard surrounded by high buildings.
Well, it seemed that my misgivings had had no basis. From the first moments I made many friends and fell in love with many girls. I had never imagined school would have this rich variety of experiences.
We played all sorts of games. In the music room we sang our first songs. We also had our first introduction to language. We saw a globe of Earth, which revolved and showed the various continents and countries. We started learning numbers, and we were told the story of the Creator of the universe. We ate delicious food, took a little nap, and woke up to go on with friendship and love, playing and learning.
Our path, however, was not totally sweet and unclouded. We had to be observant and patient. It was not all a matter of playing and fooling around. Rivalries (较量) could bring about pain and hatred or give rise to fighting. And while the lady would sometimes smile, she would often yell and scold.Even more frequently she would resort to physical punishment.
The bell rang, announcing the passing of the day and the end of work. The children rushed toward the gate, which was opened again. I said goodbye to friends and sweethearts and passed through the gate. I looked around but found no trace of my father, who had promised to be there. I stepped aside to wait.

The expo theme, “Better City, Better Life”, highlights the new thinking, new technologies and new practices for achieving healthy and sustainable urban living. Guided by these concepts, the New Zealand Pavilion will follow the theme, “Cities of Nature, Living between Land and Sky”.
The aim of the pavilion is to present a welcoming vision of a nation that is working hard to bring its cities into a sustainable balance with nature; a country in which natural beauty, the inspiration that it brings, and the lifestyles that it permits, can exist alongside and contribute to a modern and creative first world economy.
In its form and content the pavilion takes inspiration from the Maori creation story in which the god Tane separated his parents, the Sky and the Earth, to create space both for the natural world and for human beings.
The location
The pavilion will be located in one of the prime sites at the expo, close to the host country's pavilion and alongside the enormous theme pavilion. It will neighbor on the main walkway and will be seen by virtually every visitor to the expo.
The design
Designed and built by international project management company Coffey Projects, the distinctive wedgeshaped pavilion will have a projected capacity of 40,000 visitors per day. It will cover approximately 75 percent of a 2, 000squaremetre corner site, close to both the China Pavilion and the China Theme Pavilion, and beside the main elevated walkway.
Two of the visitor experience areas:
Cities of Nature
Experiencing inside the wedge, visitors will walk along a winding ramp (斜坡) that gradually rises up, taking them through a “day in the life” of a New Zealand family in a composite New Zealand city in a natural setting: from the mountains to the sea, past farmlands and bush and back towards the mountains, through a beach house, a school classroom and an office building.
Garden and wild places walk
Visitors will exit the Cities of Nature experience near the top of the wedge, and will then walk back down towards the corridor area through a garden planted with New Zealand trees and flowers, and making use of sculptural elements, audio and lighting.www.21-cn-jy.com

Airtight plastic bags can help farmers protect their harvests without the use of harmful chemicals. These bags are designed to keep air out of crops in storage. They are a simple way to fight insects and keep food fresh.
Ten countries in West and Central Africa are involved in a project to improve the storage of cowpeas, also known as blackeyed peas.Farmers can lose much of the harvest to insects called bruchids(豆象).These grow from egg to adult in a few weeks and then lay forty to sixty more eggs. They can destroy the whole harvest within months. Farmers can sell their crop immediately. But selling at harvest time means more competition and lower prices. Or they can use pesticides to kill the bugs. But that is also risky. The reason is that they end up misusing or overusing the pesticide. In Nigeria, they have reported a lot of cases of death. They usually call it in Nigeria “killer beans”.
Mr. Baributsa is a researcher at Purdue University in the American state of Indiana. The project is called PICS, for Purdue Improved Cowpea Storage. The storage bags are thick enough that any insects already in the cowpeas will die from a lack of oxygen. The lack of air will also help prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi (真菌) that can ruin the harvest. The bags cost about two dollars each. That is not much, especially if it means farmers can wait long enough to get a better price for their crop. The bags are produced locally. Donors currently support the project, but the groups involved are working to build a lasting market for the bags. The bags are being advertised by radio and mobile phone videos in local languages. The project includes Nigeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Mali. The other countries are Senegal, Cameroon, Benin, Togo and Chad.
“With many development projects, what you do is, that you go in the village and you give the farmers the bags. And then once the project ends, that farmer cannot find the bag on the market. We feel like that is not an approach to the longterm development.” says Mr. Baributsa.
A company based in the United States called GrainPro makes another kind of airtight bag. These are called SuperGrainbags. Phil Villers, the company's president, says safely storing a harvest not only earns more money for farmers, it also reduces the amount of food lost to insects, spoilage and mishandling.
What does not get wasted and eaten means these airtight bags available to feed a hungry world.21·cn·jy·com
