“I would rather die than go home!” said 13-year-old Liang. Liang is a Junior student from Hunan. Earlier this month, people found him in the undercarriage(起落架)of a plane! The plane was flying from Kunming to Chongqing. Liang stayed inside for more than one hour while the plane was high in the sky!
It was very cold, very noisy and the winds were strong. Luckily, Liang survived. But his 12-year-old friend was not so lucky. He fell to his death during the take-off.
So why did Liang do such a dangerous thing? Liang said his parents were divorced (离婚). He felt nobody cared for him. He was very sad so he left home.
Kids face lots of problems these days, don’t they? They have too much homework to finish. They have a lot of exams to worry about. They sometimes fight with friends. Sometimes their parents don’t get on well. It can feel like the end of the world.
How should we deal with these things? Do you just keep it secret and let it be? Do you write it down in your diary? Or do you do what Liang did and leave home? You don’t need to hide in a plane to get away from bad things. It’s very dangerous. Why not try talking to your parents?

Sharks are among the oldest animals on Earth. There are hundreds of kinds of sharks. Most are about two meters long. The dogfish shark, however, is less than twenty centimeters in length. A shark has an extremely good sense of smell. It can find small amounts of matters in water, such as blood, body liquids and chemicals produced by animals. These powerful senses help sharks find their food. Sharks eat fish, other sharks, and plants that live in the ocean.
Sharks grow slowly. About forty percent of all sharks lay eggs. The others give birth to live young. Some sharks carry their young inside their bodies as humans do. Some sharks are not able to reproduce until they are twenty years old. Most reproduce only every two years. And they give birth to fewer than ten young sharks. For this reason, over – fishing of sharks is of special danger to the future of the animal.
Sharks are important for the world’s oceans. They eat injured and diseased fish. Their hunting activities mean that the numbers of other fish in ocean waters do not become too great. This protects the plants and other forms of life that exist in the oceans.
People hunt sharks for sport, food, medicine and their skin. Experts say the international market for some kinds of sharks has increased because many parts of a shark are valuable.
Collectors pay thousands of dollars for the jaws of a shark. Shark liver oil is a popular source of Vitamin A. The skin of a shark can be used like leather.
In Asia, people enjoy a kind of soup made from shark fins. Experts say a fisherman can earn a lot of money for even one kilogram of shark fins. Sharks are among the oldest animals on Earth, but some sharks are in danger of disappearing from Earth. If too many sharks in one area are killed, that group of sharks may never return to normal population levels.
51. Which of the following words best describes the situation sharks are in?

54. According to the passage, many parts of a shark are valuable EXCEPT ________.
A. its jaws B. its liver C. shark fins D. shark teeth
55. The author thinks that .
A. sharks are valuable to us and we can make full use of them
B. oceans will become safer with fewer sharks swimming around
C. measures should be taken to protect sharks
D. the shark population is increasing slowly

Finding a suitable place to live is not easy for a student who first arrived in a strange place. I was lucky because I had booked a dormitory with the school before I arrived. It was a flat with seven independent rooms and a shared bathroom and kitchen. All of my flatmates are students from Britain. I thought I was lucky to be part of this flat with these energetic young men. However, I found myself unhappy with them only a few days after I stayed there. These young people seemed never to be quiet. Usually they would not come back until late into the night. They even played football in the room whenever they like, whether it was early morning or late night. Worse still, they always had parties. Those loud music and laughter made me sleepless the whole night. Finally, I had no choice but to ask the authority to move me to another flat where most of the students were international students pursuing their master degrees. They were older in age and held heavier study burdens. So they were quieter.
My advice for those who want to study in the UK is to get in touch with the international student accommodation service of your school first and tell them to arrange for you to share a flat with graduates before you come here.

A. Housing hunting while studying abroad

A. They loved football too much
B. They often held parties
C. They disturbed the writer’s living greatly
D. They went to bed too late and got up too early
58.The measure the writer took to solve the problem was _______ .
A. asking some older students for help
B. giving the British students heavier study burden
C. asking the authority to make the British student burden
D. changing a place to live
59.The advice the writer gave us was _______ .

B. live with students who have study burden
C. get your housing fixed before your arrival
D. better live in your school

A. the room B. football C. time D. the night

第四部分: 写作
第一节:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 08-09高一下-14
I really dislike cars, and driving in general. Now, the technology of the World Wide Web allows me to complain to the entire world. So bear with me as I detail my reasons…
Driving is wasting time-I don’t learn anything. I won’t be a better person when I get in a car.
Sitting in a car is bad for you. Human bodies need to move, and poorly designed car seats only make our bodies hurt more.
Driving demands all your attention. Any small diversion (分散)of attention, like changing the radio station or yawning (打哈欠), can result in death. Who wants to die for a yawn?
Cars pollute. They make walking down the street a terrible experience.
Cars take away much of my freedom. I have to feed it gas and oil regularly, etc. It seems that I’m the slave of the car. Not to mention the thousands of dollars per year to keep it running.
Have you ever noticed the huge part of society’s resources that goes to service the car industry? Look at the number of car commercials on TV and on the radio. Look at the vast amount of land space given to gas stations, repair shops, roads, parking lots, etc. Look at the huge amount of time people spend driving and serving their cars.
__________________. Whenever someone dies in a plane crash, there’s a huge public outcry(大声疾呼) for the FAA (联邦航运局) to spend millions of dollars pouring over regulations, investigation, etc. Yet every year 40,000 people die in car crashes in the US alone! And no one seems to care. What’s going on here? How have we been so completely cheated?
61.What is the best title of the passage? (Please answer within 10 words.)

62.Whom did the writer expect to be the first readers of this passage?( Please answer within 10 words.)

Dear Robert,
I am writing to tell you about the thematic class-meeting we had in our classroom on the afternoon of last Friday. Here are the details:
As you know, many of the students are the only child of their family. They are always self-centered and seldom care about others. In order to help them to thank their parents and show concern about others, we were required to hold a class-meeting whose theme is “Show Gratitude to Our Parents”.
Firstly, our head teacher made a brief speech, making our task clear. Secondly, several students listed some improper behaviour that shows many children don’t respect their parents. Lastly, our monitor made suggestions that we should send small gifts to our parents on their birthdays, and we should say hello when we get home and goodbye before going out.
I think we have benefited a lot from this thematic class-meeting.
I hope you can tell me what has happened to you recently.
Yours,
Li Jun

Text 1
W: One ticket, please. I want to catch the train to London.
M: Sorry, Madam. You’ve just missed it. It’s 8:40 now.
Text 2
M: Hello, this is room 606. What time is the dinner, please?
W: The dinner time is from 8:00 to 10:00 in the evening.
Text 3
M: Let me see your license, please. You went through the red light.
W: Oh, my God.
Text 4
W: Are you pleased with the printing of the book?
M: No, not really. The paper they used is not so good and the characters on the paper seem too small for me.
Text 5
M: Excuse me, is there a place nearby where I can buy rice paper?
W: There is a shopping centre next to the Exhibition Hall. That’s the place for you to get it.
Text 6
M: Have you heard of the Leaning Tower of Pisa? People there often call it Dear Old Lady.
W: I know millions of people visit Pisa each year because they want to see the Leaning Tower.
M: But some visitors just stop at the tower, take a picture and leave right away. Others climb the 294 steps to the top, feeling like a hero.
W: I think it’s dangerous to climb the tower. It’s reported that the tower has been leaning for 826 years.
Text 7
M: How long are you planning to stay in the USA?
W: I’ve got three weeks altogether.
M: What would you prefer to do?
W: I think I’d like to see some of the things that one can’t find in other countries.
M: Well, I suggest you see some of our national parks. Why don’t you hire a car and drive around for a couple of weeks?
W: That sounds like a good idea.
Text 8
Time spent in a bookshop can be enjoyable. If you go to a good shop, no assistant will come near to you and say “Can I help you?” You needn’t buy anything you don’t want. You may try to find out where the book you want is. The assistant will lead you there and then he will go away and look as if he is not interested in selling a single book.
There is a story which tells us about a good shop. A medical student had to read a textbook which was too expensive for him to buy. He couldn’t get it from a book shop. So every afternoon, he went there to read a little at a time. One day, however, he couldn’t find it in it usual place and was about to leave when he noticed an assistant signing to him. To his surprise, the assistant pointed to the book, which was in a corner. “I put it there so as not to sell it,” said the assistant. Then he left the student to continue his reading.
