“When

I

“Oh,
no!”
I
cried,
“Ten
more
books
to
read!
We
pupils
have
the
most
pressure
in
the

Adults
don't
believe
this,
since
they
imagine
we
are
always
happy.
But
they
didn't
have
to
study
as
hard
when
they
were
young,
because
the

then.
The

I
was

desperate

I

everything
I
had

“When

For

I
promise
I
will
work
hard
afterwards.”
I
yawned.
My
eyes
were
heavy;
so
heavy
that
I

hardly
keep
them
open.
A
few
minutes
later,
with
my

I

第二部分:阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Each
year,
millions
of
visitors
crowd
into
our
many
national
parks.
With
their
unmatched
beauty,
the
national
parks
offer
people
a
place
to
go
to
restore
(恢复)
their
energy.
The
parks
we
enjoy
today,
however,
might
not
be
around
without
the
past
efforts
of
a
few
people
who
supported
an
idea
to
protect
the
natural
beauty
of
our
country.
One
of
these
people
was
the
naturalist
John
Muir.
In
1867,
on
his
way
west
to
San
Francisco,
John
Muir
walked
through
Yosemite
and
quickly
recognized
its
incomparable
beauty.
Muir
devoted
himself
to
learning
as
much
about
the
wilderness
(荒原)
as
he
could.
Then,
he
would
pass
this
learning
on
to
others
in
many
articles
he
wrote
describing
the
beauty
of
the
area.
In
order
to
protect
Yosemite
from
damage,
Muir
became
the
voice
behind
a
government
bill
that
would
create
Yosemite
National
Park.
Soon
other
bills
would
follow,
and
Muir
would
continue
his
fight
to
make
Americans
understand
the
importance
of
protecting
the
wild.
In
1901,
Muir
wrote
a
book
about
the
national
parks,
which
caught
the
attention
of
people
all
over
the
United
States,
including
President
Theodore
Roosevelt.
At
a
young
age,
Theodore_Roosevelt_had_shown_signs_of_a_passion_(热情)_that_would_strengthen_throughout_his_lifetime.
During
a
trip
to
North
Dakota
in
1883
he
saw
the
damage
done
to
the
land
and
its
wildlife.
Roosevelt
would
take
his
ideas
about
conservation
(保护)
with
him
to
the
White
House
as
the
country's
26th
president.
He
would
go
on
to
create
the
U.S.
Forest
Service,
150
national
forests,
and
5
national
parks.
Roosevelt
even
canceled
a
1903
presidential
speaking
tour
in
order
to
spend
two
weeks
camping
in
Yellowstone,
where
he
gave
a
speech
calling
for
its
protection.
While
visiting
Yosemite,
Roosevelt
camped
for
three
days
with
John
Muir,
who
showed
the
president
around
and
persuaded
him
to
make
Yosemite
Valley
a
part
of
the
larger
Yosemite
National
Park.
After
the
trip,
Roosevelt
commented
that
there
was
no
better
person
in
the
world
with
whom
to
see
and
appreciate
Yosemite.
The
natural
beauty
that
tourists
from
around
the
world
enjoy
today
in
the
country's
national
parks
is
largely
due
to
the
efforts
of
Roosevelt
and
Muir,
who
devoted
themselves
to
an
idea
that
has
benefited
all
people.

B
Long
ago,
poems
were
recited
out
loud
instead
of
being
written
down.
When
the
Greeks
first
started
the
Olympics,
they
held
poetry
contests
as
well
as
athletic
competitions.
Now,
poetry
competitions
have
been
revived.
This
year
120,000
high
school
students
competed
in
the
first
Poetry
Out
Loud
national
recitation
contest,
performing
poems
from
memory
for
$100,000
in
prizes.
The
first
competitions
were
held
in
classrooms.
The
winners
went
on
to
school wide
contests,
and
then
they
competed
in
city
and
state
competitions.
Finally,
the
50
state
champions,
along
with
the
District
of
Columbia
champion,
descended
upon
Washington,
D.C.,
last
week
for
the
ultimate
showdown.
After
the
51
champions
competed
against
one
another,
12
went
on
to
the
finals.
Then
the
field
was
narrowed
to
five.
The
final
five
had
one
last
chance
to
“perform”
a
poem.
The
overall
champ,
Jackson
Hille,
a
high
school
senior
from
Ohio,
won
a
$20,000
scholarship.
The
National
Endowment
for
the
Arts
and
the
Poetry
Foundation
started
Poetry
Out
Loud
because
they
realized
that
hearing
a
poem
performed
is
a
different
experience
from
reading
it
on
a
page.
It's
not
just
a
matter
of
saying
the
words
in
the
right
order.
It's
the
tone
of
voice,
the
pauses,
the
gestures,
and
the
attitude
of
the
person
performing
that
bring
the
words
to
life.
“Each
time
we
hear
somebody
recite
a
poem,
we
understand
again
what
we
found
fresh
and
interesting
about
it,”
says
National
Public
Radio
broadcaster
Scott
Simon,
master
of
ceremonies
for
the
finals.
Hearing
it
in
a
new
voice
offers
something
new
for
the
listener.
Not
only
do
the
people
hearing
poems
have
a
new
experience,
memorizing
and
presenting
poems
helps
the
participants
understand
those
poems
in
a
new
way.
Another
benefit
of
a
competition
such
as
Poetry
Out
Loud
is
that
the
participants
learn
public speaking
skills
that
can
help
them
for
life.

Each
year,
millions
of
visitors
crowd
into
our
many
national
parks.
With
their
unmatched
beauty,
the
national
parks
offer
people
a
place
to
go
to
restore
(恢复)
their
energy.
The
parks
we
enjoy
today,
however,
might
not
be
around
without
the
past
efforts
of
a
few
people
who
supported
an
idea
to
protect
the
natural
beauty
of
our
country.
One
of
these
people
was
the
naturalist
John
Muir.
In
1867,
on
his
way
west
to
San
Francisco,
John
Muir
walked
through
Yosemite
and
quickly
recognized
its
incomparable
beauty.
Muir
devoted
himself
to
learning
as
much
about
the
wilderness
(荒原)
as
he
could.
Then,
he
would
pass
this
learning
on
to
others
in
many
articles
he
wrote
describing
the
beauty
of
the
area.
In
order
to
protect
Yosemite
from
damage,
Muir
became
the
voice
behind
a
government
bill
that
would
create
Yosemite
National
Park.
Soon
other
bills
would
follow,
and
Muir
would
continue
his
fight
to
make
Americans
understand
the
importance
of
protecting
the
wild.
In
1901,
Muir
wrote
a
book
about
the
national
parks,
which
caught
the
attention
of
people
all
over
the
United
States,
including
President
Theodore
Roosevelt.
At
a
young
age,
Theodore_Roosevelt_had_shown_signs_of_a_passion_(热情)_that_would_strengthen_throughout_his_lifetime.
During
a
trip
to
North
Dakota
in
1883
he
saw
the
damage
done
to
the
land
and
its
wildlife.
Roosevelt
would
take
his
ideas
about
conservation
(保护)
with
him
to
the
White
House
as
the
country's
26th
president.
He
would
go
on
to
create
the
U.S.
Forest
Service,
150
national
forests,
and
5
national
parks.
Roosevelt
even
canceled
a
1903
presidential
speaking
tour
in
order
to
spend
two
weeks
camping
in
Yellowstone,
where
he
gave
a
speech
calling
for
its
protection.
While
visiting
Yosemite,
Roosevelt
camped
for
three
days
with
John
Muir,
who
showed
the
president
around
and
persuaded
him
to
make
Yosemite
Valley
a
part
of
the
larger
Yosemite
National
Park.
After
the
trip,
Roosevelt
commented
that
there
was
no
better
person
in
the
world
with
whom
to
see
and
appreciate
Yosemite.
The
natural
beauty
that
tourists
from
around
the
world
enjoy
today
in
the
country's
national
parks
is
largely
due
to
the
efforts
of
Roosevelt
and
Muir,
who
devoted
themselves
to
an
idea
that
has
benefited
all
people.

Long
ago,
poems
were
recited
out
loud
instead
of
being
written
down.
When
the
Greeks
first
started
the
Olympics,
they
held
poetry
contests
as
well
as
athletic
competitions.
Now,
poetry
competitions
have
been
revived.
This
year
120,000
high
school
students
competed
in
the
first
Poetry
Out
Loud
national
recitation
contest,
performing
poems
from
memory
for
$100,000
in
prizes.
The
first
competitions
were
held
in
classrooms.
The
winners
went
on
to
school wide
contests,
and
then
they
competed
in
city
and
state
competitions.
Finally,
the
50
state
champions,
along
with
the
District
of
Columbia
champion,
descended
upon
Washington,
D.C.,
last
week
for
the
ultimate
showdown.
After
the
51
champions
competed
against
one
another,
12
went
on
to
the
finals.
Then
the
field
was
narrowed
to
five.
The
final
five
had
one
last
chance
to
“perform”
a
poem.
The
overall
champ,
Jackson
Hille,
a
high
school
senior
from
Ohio,
won
a
$20,000
scholarship.
The
National
Endowment
for
the
Arts
and
the
Poetry
Foundation
started
Poetry
Out
Loud
because
they
realized
that
hearing
a
poem
performed
is
a
different
experience
from
reading
it
on
a
page.
It's
not
just
a
matter
of
saying
the
words
in
the
right
order.
It's
the
tone
of
voice,
the
pauses,
the
gestures,
and
the
attitude
of
the
person
performing
that
bring
the
words
to
life.
“Each
time
we
hear
somebody
recite
a
poem,
we
understand
again
what
we
found
fresh
and
interesting
about
it,”
says
National
Public
Radio
broadcaster
Scott
Simon,
master
of
ceremonies
for
the
finals.
Hearing
it
in
a
new
voice
offers
something
new
for
the
listener.
Not
only
do
the
people
hearing
poems
have
a
new
experience,
memorizing
and
presenting
poems
helps
the
participants
understand
those
poems
in
a
new
way.
Another
benefit
of
a
competition
such
as
Poetry
Out
Loud
is
that
the
participants
learn
public speaking
skills
that
can
help
them
for
life.
