Good
morning,
everybody.
My
topic
for
today
is
“Early
Money”.
I'm
going
to
tell
you
something
about
the
money
used
in
ancient
times.
To
be
honest,
we
know
little
about
how
ancient
people
came
to
use
money,
but
we
do
know
some
of
the
things
that
have
been
used
as
money.
In
the
past
in
some
European
countries,
salt
was
difficult
to
get.
It
was
used
as
money.
In
some
parts
of
Asia,
tea
was
used
for
money.
The
American
Indians
used
nuts
and
other
things.
Perhaps
the
most
common
money
of
all
was
an
animal
of
some
kind.
In
some
places
today,
cows
are
still
used
as
money.
So,
you
see,
things
highly
valued
by
people
may
serve
as
money.
The
Chinese
were
the
first
people
to
use
coins
as
money.
17.What
is
the
talk
mainly
about
A.Some
of
the
things
that
served
as
money
in
the
past.
B.How
people
decided
the
value
of
money.
C.How
money
came
into
use.
18.Which
of
the
following
was
difficult
to
get
in
some
European
countries
A.Tea.
B.Salt.
C.Nuts.
19.What
kind
of
animal
is
used
as
money
in
some
places
today
A.Cows.
B.Horses.
C.Sheep.
20.Who
were
the
first
people
to
use
coins
as
money
A.The
Japanese.
B.The
American
Indians.
C.The
Chinese.
答案:1~5 ABCBC 6~10 BACAC
11~15 BACBA 16~20 CABAC
第二部分:阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
A
pill
that
fights
snoring
(打鼾)
could
be
the
secret
to
a
good
night's
sleep
for
millions
of
couples.
Initial
results
suggest
the
new
drug
could
be
the
first
pill
to
handle
sleep
apnea
(呼吸暂停).
It
may
also
help
reduce
the
risks
of
high
blood
pressure
and
heart
disease
linked
with
sleep
apnea.
The
condition
occurs
as
a
result
of
the
narrowing
of
the
airways.
As
sleep
begins,
the
muscles
in
the
airway
relax.
For
most
people
this
does
not
cause
a
problem,
but
for
those
with
sleep
apnea
it
leads
to
a
complete
loss
of
strength
that
stops
breathing
for
at
least
ten
seconds.
Once
the
brain
realizes
breathing
has
stopped,
it
sends
out
a
signal
for
the
airway
muscles
to
contract
again.
Treatment
normally
begins
with
trying
to
lose
weight.
But
many
patients
end
up
needing
a
treatment
called
CPAP,
which
includes
wearing
a
special
mask
over
the
nose
and
mouth
during
sleep.
Other
equipment
includes
special
dental
splints
(牙夹板),
which
are
worn
at
night.
These
treatments
are
very
effective
but
don't
actually
cure
the
condition.
A
pill
is
regarded
by
some
experts
as
a
perfect
method
of
snoring
treatment.
The
new
drug,
called
Qnexa,
was
developed
as
a
weight loss
medicine.
Researchers
noticed
an
added
benefit
when
they
tested
volunteers
to
measure
the
effects
on
sleep
apnea.
Over
the
course
of
the
trial,
which
included
men
and
women
aged
30
to
65,
the
number
of
times
their
sleep
was
interrupted
by
snoring related
problems
dropped
from
an
average
of
46
times
an
hour
to
just
14.
Meanwhile,
they
lost
an
average
of
10
percent
of
their
body
weight
and
saw
a
great
drop
in
blood
pressure.
Professor
Jim
Horne
said,
“Around
50
percent
of
obese
people
suffer
sleep
apnea
to
some
degree.
When
they
lie
down
in
bed,
their
muscles
relax
and
the
fat
around
their
neck
presses
the
airway
even
further.
It's
possible
this
drug
helps
by
causing
weight
loss
or
making
the
throat
muscles
tighter.
We
won't
know
whether
it's
beneficial
to
habitual
snorers
who
aren't
overweight
until
more
research
has
been
carried
out.”
21.According
to
the
passage,
the
bad
effects
caused
by
snoring
include
________.
a.breathlessness
 B.high
blood
pressure
c.heart
disease
D.tiredness
A.a,b,c
B.a,b,d
C.b,c,d
D.a,b,c,d
解析:选A 推理判断题。根据第一段中的...to
handle
sleep
apnea.
和...reduce
the
risks
of
high
blood
pressure
and
heart
disease...
可知答案为A。
22.Which
of
the
following
is
considered
to
be
the
best
treatment
for
snoring
in
the
future
A.Trying
to
lose
weight.
B.Using
CPAP
when
sleeping.
C.Wearing
dental
splints
at
night.
D.Taking
the
new
medicine
Qnexa.
解析:选D 细节理解题。根据第四段中的“A
pill
is
regarded
by
some
experts
as
a
perfect
method
of
snoring
treatment.”可知答案为D。
23.Professor
Jim
Horne
thinks
that
Qnexa
________.
A.works
well
with
people
who
snore
B.may
make
people
lose
too
much
weight
C.might
do
harm
to
throat
muscles
D.needs
further
studies
before
it
is
sold
解析:选D 推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“We
won't
know
whether
it's
beneficial
to
habitual
snorers...”可推断,答案为D。
24.This
passage
can
most
probably
be
found
in
________.
A.a
textbook
B.a
medical
journal
C.an
advertisement
D.a
novel
解析:选B 推理判断题。本文是一篇关于药物研究的科研文章,因此最有可能出现在医学期刊上,答案为B。
B
I
think
it
was
a
famous
city
planner
who
said
that
if
you
build
a
statue
or
a
sculpture
or
some
similar
object
and
put
it
on
the
sidewalk,
you
will
often
find
several
people
looking
at
it
and
talking
to
each
other
about
it,
even
if
they
don't
know
each
other.
The
object
is
a
perfect
conversation
starter.
So
I
have
developed
a
theory

the
theory
of
the
third

which
says
that
neither
person
should
start
a
conversation
by
talking
about
himself
or
the
other
person
directly.
Instead,
you
have
to
find
a
third
subject,
a
third
person,
or
an
object
to
begin
the
conversation
around.
I
had
a
perfect
example
the
other
night.
I
was
doing
a
crossword
puzzle
(填字游戏)
while
waiting
in
line
for
a
movie,
and
this
guy
next
to
me,
whom
I
didn't
know,
said,
“Well,
you're
four
days
late,”
because
it
was
the
Sunday
crossword
and
this
was
a
Thursday.
And
of
course,
even
though
he
was
commenting
on
something
I
was
doing,
it
wasn't
a
question
about
me.
It
wasn't
invasive
(侵犯的)

“What
do
you
do?”
“Who
are
you?”
“What's
your
name?”
It
was
something
in
between
that
we
could
begin
a
conversation
about.
At
the
same
time,
this
guy
was
a
little
rude

he
was
looking
over
my
shoulder

and
I
liked
that,
too,
but
the
fact
is,
he
wasn't
commenting
on
what
I
was
wearing
or
really
on
anything
about
me.
And
because
he
just
talked
about
the
puzzle,
it
led
to
a
conversation.
The
theory
of
the
third
explains
why
the
weather
is
such
a
common
start.
Unfortunately,
it's
so
common
as
to
be
old,
but
at
least
it's
an
attempt
at
neutrality
(中立)

like
commenting
on
the
interesting
color
of
the
wall
you're
standing
next
to.
And
that's
the
best
way
to
start
a
conversation,
with
an
attempt
at
neutrality.
And
by
the
way,
the
guy
from
the
movie
line
We're
going
to
have
lunch.
语篇解读:在日常生活中应该如何跟陌生人开始交谈呢?作者用亲身经历证明了自己的“第三话题理论”,即在和陌生人交谈时,要避开涉及双方任何一方的话题,而选择“第三话题”开始交谈。
25.Which
of
the
following
best
explains
the
theory
of
the
third
A.Talk
about
a
third
person
or
an
object.
B.Talk
about
something
related
to
both
sides.
C.Talk
about
something
familiar
to
both
sides.
D.Talk
about
yourself
or
the
other
person
directly.
解析:选A 细节理解题。由第一段最后两句可知,作者的“第三话题理论”就是:在和陌生人开始交谈时,要避开涉及任何一方的话题,而选择第三方作为话题。
26.Which

proper
way
to
start

B.Talking
about
your
family
members.
C.Commenting
on
the
stranger's
clothes.

on
a
beautiful
object
nearby.
解析:选D 推理判断题。由第一段最后两句作者叙述的“第三话题理论”可知,跟陌生人开始交谈时,不要谈涉及双方任何一方的问题,故可推知,“评论附近的一个美丽物体”应该是一个合适的话题。
27.What
happened
between
the
author
and
the
guy
from
the
movie
line
A.They
remained
strangers

gathered
to
play

on
the
afternoon
of
Oct.13,
in
Foshan
City
of
Guangdong
Province.
The
driver
fled
the
scene
of
the
accident,
leaving
the
girl
to
bleed
on
the
sidewalk.Over
the
next
six
minutes,
more
than
a
dozen
people
walked
by
the
girl,
yet
not
one
individual
did
anything
to
help
her.The
girl
was
then
hit
a
second
time
by
another
van
before
an
elderly
trash
collector
came
to
her
aid
and
brought
the
attention
of
the
girl's
mother,
according
to
the
video
and
eyewitnesses.
Doctors
said
that
the
girl,
who
was
put
on
life
support
after
being
hospitalized,
remains
in
a
deep
coma.The
girl's
parents,
who
are
migrants
living
in
the
city,
are
now
with
her.
Police
said
the
drivers
of
both
vehicles
have
been
arrested.However,
the
apathy
(冷漠)
of
the
bystanders
shown
in
the
video
has
shocked
the
public,
as
Internet
forums
(论坛)
have
seethed
(沸腾)
with
anger,
and
people
are
questioning
the
morality
of
society.
High
moral
standards
were
once
triumphed
as
national
pride
in
China
where
individuals
known
for
selflessly
helping
others
were
adored
by
the
public.
But
in
recent
years,
the
perception
of
a
decline
of
morals
has
become
a
hot
topic
as
profit
and
materialism
are
considered
to
be
affecting
society's
values.
On
Sept.2
an
88 year old
man
in
central
China
collapsed,
his
face
striking
the
pavement.Yet,
no
one
came
to
his
aid,
and
he
ended
up
choking
to
death
on
the
blood
from
his
nose.
Some
have
linked
the
absence
of
good
models
to
a
previous
case
in
which
a
man
trying
to
help
an
elderly
woman
who
fell
was
accused
of
harming
her.
A
strong
chorus
of
opinion
on
the
Internet
says
laws
should
exempt
(免除)
models
from
responsibility,
yet
laws
themselves
cannot
solve
society's
morality
dilemma.
Cao
Lin,
a
China
Youth
Daily
commentator,
said
in
a
signed
article
published
on
Monday
that
the
worry
of
responsibility
should
not
be
an
excuse
for
not
helping,
and
this
case
exposes
the
decline
of
humanity
in
Chinese
society.
29.From
the
passage,
what
would

condemned
by
the

be

feel
proud
of
him/her
and
showed
love
and

for
him/her.

D
Modern
humans
have
a
hard
time
controlling
their
desire
to
eat.
Often
you
eat
not
because
you
are
hungry,
but
because
you
are
affected
by
many
other
things.
How
much
you
eat
is
strongly
affected
by
how
much
those
around
you
eat.
People
eating
alone
eat
least.
People
eating
with
one
other
person
eat
35
percent
more
than
they
do
at
home.
People
dining
in
a
party
of
four
eat
75
percent
more.
Eating
with
overweight
friends
You'll
eat
more.
Is
your
waitress
overweight
You'll
eat
more.
A
wide
variety
of
food
You'll
eat
more.
Plates
can
decide
how
sweet
dessert
tastes.
If
people
ate
it
off
a
paper
plate,
they'd
say,
“This
is
good.”
If
they
ate
it
off
a
fancy
silver
plate,
they
would
say,
“This
is
the
greatest
cake
I've
eaten
in
my
entire
life.”
Your
knowledge
about
what
makes
food
good
or
bad
also
affects
how
much
you
eat.
You
tend
to
eat
more
when
you
think
the
food
is
good,
and
less
when
you
think
it
is
bad.
So
Grandma's
cookies
always
taste
better
than
other
cookies.
“Good
food”
even
has
a
“health
halo
(光环)
effect”.
If
we're
eating
something
healthy,
we
feel
that
everything
in
that
meal
is
healthy.
Due
to
this,
people
often
believe
that
a
cheese
cake
with
a
salad
has
fewer
calories
(卡路里)
than
the
cheese
cake
alone.
That's
perhaps
also
why
eating
organic
(有机的)
food
might
turn
you
into
an
annoying
guy.
Your
brain
may
use
anything
that
makes
you
feel
good
about
your
own
morality
to
excuse
your
immoral
behaviour.
Food
and
hunger
affect
your
judgment
too.
Hungry
judges
give
more
serious
sentences.
Kids
who
don't
eat
breakfast
behave
worse
than
kids
who
eat
their
breakfast.
People
who
have
low
blood
sugar
are
more
likely
than
the
average
person
to
have
trouble
concentrating
and
controlling
their
unpleasant
emotions.

第二部分:阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
A
pill
that
fights
snoring
(打鼾)
could
be
the
secret
to
a
good
night's
sleep
for
millions
of
couples.
Initial
results
suggest
the
new
drug
could
be
the
first
pill
to
handle
sleep
apnea
(呼吸暂停).
It
may
also
help
reduce
the
risks
of
high
blood
pressure
and
heart
disease
linked
with
sleep
apnea.
The
condition
occurs
as
a
result
of
the
narrowing
of
the
airways.
As
sleep
begins,
the
muscles
in
the
airway
relax.
For
most
people
this
does
not
cause
a
problem,
but
for
those
with
sleep
apnea
it
leads
to
a
complete
loss
of
strength
that
stops
breathing
for
at
least
ten
seconds.
Once
the
brain
realizes
breathing
has
stopped,
it
sends
out
a
signal
for
the
airway
muscles
to
contract
again.
Treatment
normally
begins
with
trying
to
lose
weight.
But
many
patients
end
up
needing
a
treatment
called
CPAP,
which
includes
wearing
a
special
mask
over
the
nose
and
mouth
during
sleep.
Other
equipment
includes
special
dental
splints
(牙夹板),
which
are
worn
at
night.
These
treatments
are
very
effective
but
don't
actually
cure
the
condition.
A
pill
is
regarded
by
some
experts
as
a
perfect
method
of
snoring
treatment.
The
new
drug,
called
Qnexa,
was
developed
as
a
weight loss
medicine.
Researchers
noticed
an
added
benefit
when
they
tested
volunteers
to
measure
the
effects
on
sleep
apnea.
Over
the
course
of
the
trial,
which
included
men
and
women
aged
30
to
65,
the
number
of
times
their
sleep
was
interrupted
by
snoring related
problems
dropped
from
an
average
of
46
times
an
hour
to
just
14.
Meanwhile,
they
lost
an
average
of
10
percent
of
their
body
weight
and
saw
a
great
drop
in
blood
pressure.
Professor
Jim
Horne
said,
“Around
50
percent
of
obese
people
suffer
sleep
apnea
to
some
degree.
When
they
lie
down
in
bed,
their
muscles
relax
and
the
fat
around
their
neck
presses
the
airway
even
further.
It's
possible
this
drug
helps
by
causing
weight
loss
or
making
the
throat
muscles
tighter.
We
won't
know
whether
it's
beneficial
to
habitual
snorers
who
aren't
overweight
until
more
research
has
been
carried
out.”
21.According
to
the
passage,
the
bad
effects
caused
by
snoring
include
________.
a.breathlessness
 B.high
blood
pressure
c.heart
disease
D.tiredness
A.a,b,c
B.a,b,d
C.b,c,d
D.a,b,c,d
22.Which
of
the
following
is
considered
to
be
the
best
treatment
for
snoring
in
the
future
A.Trying
to
lose
weight.
B.Using
CPAP
when
sleeping.
C.Wearing
dental
splints
at
night.
D.Taking
the
new
medicine
Qnexa.
23.Professor
Jim
Horne
thinks
that
Qnexa
________.
A.works
well
with
people
who
snore
B.may
make
people
lose
too
much
weight
C.might
do
harm
to
throat
muscles
D.needs
further
studies
before
it
is
sold
24.This
passage
can
most
probably
be
found
in
________.
A.a
textbook
B.a
medical
journal
C.an
advertisement
D.a
novel
B
I
think
it
was
a
famous
city
planner
who
said
that
if
you
build
a
statue
or
a
sculpture
or
some
similar
object
and
put
it
on
the
sidewalk,
you
will
often
find
several
people
looking
at
it
and
talking
to
each
other
about
it,
even
if
they
don't
know
each
other.
The
object
is
a
perfect
conversation
starter.
So
I
have
developed
a
theory

the
theory
of
the
third

which
says
that
neither
person
should
start
a
conversation
by
talking
about
himself
or
the
other
person
directly.
Instead,
you
have
to
find
a
third
subject,
a
third
person,
or
an
object
to
begin
the
conversation
around.
I
had
a
perfect
example
the
other
night.
I
was
doing
a
crossword
puzzle
(填字游戏)
while
waiting
in
line
for
a
movie,
and
this
guy
next
to
me,
whom
I
didn't
know,
said,
“Well,
you're
four
days
late,”
because
it
was
the
Sunday
crossword
and
this
was
a
Thursday.
And
of
course,
even
though
he
was
commenting
on
something
I
was
doing,
it
wasn't
a
question
about
me.
It
wasn't
invasive
(侵犯的)

“What
do
you
do?”
“Who
are
you?”
“What's
your
name?”
It
was
something
in
between
that
we
could
begin
a
conversation
about.
At
the
same
time,
this
guy
was
a
little
rude

he
was
looking
over
my
shoulder

and
I
liked
that,
too,
but
the
fact
is,
he
wasn't
commenting
on
what
I
was
wearing
or
really
on
anything
about
me.
And
because
he
just
talked
about
the
puzzle,
it
led
to
a
conversation.
The
theory
of
the
third
explains
why
the
weather
is
such
a
common
start.
Unfortunately,
it's
so
common
as
to
be
old,
but
at
least
it's
an
attempt
at
neutrality
(中立)

like
commenting
on
the
interesting
color
of
the
wall
you're
standing
next
to.
And
that's
the
best
way
to
start
a
conversation,
with
an
attempt
at
neutrality.
And
by
the
way,
the
guy
from
the
movie
line
We're
going
to
have
lunch.

But
in

the
perception

a
hot

Modern
humans
have
a
hard

controlling
their
desire
to
eat.
Often
you
eat
not
because
you
are
hungry,
but
because
you
are
affected
by
many
other
things.
How
much
you
eat
is
strongly
affected
by
how
much
those
around
you
eat.
People
eating
alone
eat
least.
People
eating
with
one

eat
35

they
do
at
home.
People
dining
in

more.
Eating

You'll
eat
more.
Is
your

You'll
eat
more.
A
wide
variety
of
food
You'll
eat
more.
Plates
can
decide
how
sweet
dessert
tastes.
If
people
ate
it
off
a
paper
plate,
they'd
say,
“This
is
good.”
If
they
ate
it
off
a
fancy
silver
plate,
they
would
say,
“This
is
the
greatest
cake
I've
eaten
in
my
entire
life.”
Your
knowledge
about
what
makes
food
good
or
bad
also
affects
how
much
you
eat.
You
tend
to
eat
more
when
you

the

is
good,
and
less
when
you
think
it

bad.
So
Grandma's

If
we're

we
feel
that
everything
in

is
healthy.
Due
to
this,
people
often
believe
that
a
cheese
cake
with
a
salad
has
fewer
calories

than
the

alone.
That's
perhaps
also
why
eating

The
world
is
changing
and
new
ideas
appear
every
day;
introducing
them
into
your
life
will
keep
you
engaged.
The
following
are
the
methods
I
use
to
stay
open
and
impressionable.
They'll
work
for
you
too,
no
matter
how
old
you
get.
Quiet
your
inner
voice.
It's
the
little
voice
that
offers
a
running
explanation
when
you
are
listening
to
someone.
__36__
It
is
too
easy
to
pay
more
attention
to
the
inner
voice
than
the
actual
speaker.
That
voice
often
keeps
you
from
listening
openly
for
good
information
and
can
often
make
you
shut
down
before
you
have
heard
the
entire
basis.
Focus
less
on
what
your
brain
has
to
say
and
more
on
the
speaker.
__37__
Argue
with
yourself.
__38__
Every
time
you
hear
yourself
contradicting
(与……矛盾)
the
speaker,
stop
and
take
the
other
point
of
view.
Suggest
to
your
brain
all
the
reasons
why
the
speaker
may
be
correct
and
you
may
be
wrong.
In
the
best
case
you
may
open
yourself
to
the
information
being
provided.
Failing
that,
you
will
at
least
strengthen
your
own
argument.
__39__
Some
people
are
naturally
curious
and
others
are
not.
No
matter
which
category
you
are
in,
you
can
benefit
from
behaving
like
a
curious
person.
Next
time
you
are
listening
to
information,
make
up
and
write
down
three
to
five
relevant
(相关的)
questions.
__40__
If
you
are
in
a
conversation,
you
can
ask
the
other
person.
Either
way
you'll
likely
learn
more,
and
the
action
of
thinking
up
questions
will
help
encode
the
concepts
in
your
brain.
As
long
as
you're
not
a
cat,
you
should
benefit
from
these
actions
of
curiosity.
A.Act
as
you
are
curious.
B.Try
to
calm
yourself
down.
C.You
may
be
surprised
at
what
you
hear.
D.You
will
learn
from
other
people
who
are
experienced.
E.If
you
are
in
a
lecture,
google
them
after
for
answers.
F.If
you
can't
quiet
the
inner
voice,
then
at
least
use
it
to
your
advantage.
G.It's
the
voice
that
brings
up
your
own
opinion
about
the
information
being
provided.
