Do you know something about debates?A debate is a form of argument. The topic changes from debate to debate. They are often about current issues of public importance (“That the Olympics is more about money than sport.”) or about general ideas (“That beauty is better than brains”). The one agrees with the topic is called the ‘pro’ side正方 and the one that disagrees with the topic is called ‘con’ side反方. The ‘pro’ side will speak first in the debate. A chairperson introduces the speakers, a time-keeper keeps time, and an adjudicator审判员announces which team won -- and why.Reading Strategy:reading a debateWhat is the order of a debate? One side presents their points first. The other side follows and presents theirs.
