Lesson Aims
By the end of the class, the students are expected to
1. know the meaning and pronunciation of the following words: tomato, garlic, seafood, noodle, cabbage, prawn, etc.
2. learn to ask Wh- questions to find out specific information.
e.g., What would you like for dinner tonight?
What kind of soup would you like?
3. learn to scan a text to locate specific information.
4. learn the importance of each kind of food we eat and try not to be picky about food.

Pre-reading
1. Show three colours and ask the students to think of the food.

3. Ask students to make some dialogues about the food they’d like to eat.

To teach the new words and phrases: tomato, garlic, fried chicken wings, etc.
To help them practice the dish names and the usage of Wh- questions.
While-reading
1. Play the recording of the text and ask students to read after it.
2. Ask the students to read the text again and write a dinner menu for the Li family.
3. Ask the students to scan the text and write a shopping list for Mrs. Li.
4.Ask students to practice in pairs.
