Watch the result of the interview and know what Garfield would like to eat.
To arouse Ss interest in learning the new lesson.

Pre-task
Review some words about food.

Ask students what Garfield likes and why?
Think about what Garfield likes to eat and why.
To help Ss to describe the reason.
While-task
Read the menu
(5minutes)
Show the menu and as some questions about the meun.
Answer the questions about the menu.
To let them be familiar with the content of the menu and use would like to express their preference.
Ask students what Garfield would like to have for dinner.
Guess what Garfield would like to have for dinner and why.
2. Practice
of the sentence pattern 1
(5minutes)
Show Ss more dialogues between Jon and Garfield as example.
Show Ss the picture and ask them to do pair work with the sentence pattern.
Practise the dialogues.
What would you like ...for dinner?
What kind of...?
Would you like ...or ...?
To practice the usage of would like in the wh- questions through pair work.
Post tasks:
Design a menu(7minutes)
Set the situation for Ss that Garfield would like to design a menu for his new restaurant.
Design the menu in their group.
To let Ss know how to describe the dishes and write a menu.
To strengthen Ss’ ability of co-operation and communication in group work.
Short play(8minutes)
Ask Ss to work in groups. Set a context and act it out.
Work in group and put on the short play.
Make a presentation in class.
Let Ss show themselves and use what they have learnt in a certain context for communication.

Let Ss discuss in group about what they have learnt in this lesson.
Discuss in group and share with others in class.
To make students realize the importance of the good eating habits and help them to form the good eating habits in their daily life.
