LET’S LOOK AT OUR BOOKS
Give the standard command for students to take out their student books.
1. I hear with my ears.
Give the “listen” command. The audiotape will repeat each sentence. Ask the students to listen the first time, then say the words along with the audiotape the second time. The audiotape says:
[Li Ming]
I walk with my feet. I walk to school in the morning.

Pause the audiotape. Explain that Miss Zhang will ask a question, and students should try to answer aloud, using a complete sentence; for example “I see with my eyes.” Give the “listen” command. The audiotape says:
[Miss Zhang]
I see with my eyes, I see with my eyes.
What do you do with your feet Feet.

2. Let’s sing a song.
Song: “If You’re Happy and You Know It”
Today’s activity is an action song that reinforces the new vocabulary for this Unit.
Tell the students they will learn a fun song. Go over the words to the song before you play it on the audiotape. Review the phrases clap your hands, stamp your foot, wave your arm and shake your leg. Model these actions for the students so they know what to do as they sing along with the audiotape. The class will listen to the audiotape to learn the song. First, the students should just listen to the audiotape and do the actions for each line. The second time the song plays, they should sing along. The audiotape says:
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.
If you’re happy and you know it,
and you really want to show it,
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.
If you’re happy and you know it, stamp your foot.
If you’re happy and you know it, stamp your foot.
If you’re happy and you know it,

The audiotape repeats the song. Play the song again, and ask the students to sing along this time as they do the actions.

CLASS CLOSING
Today have students number off using some vocabulary for this unit: hand, foot, arm and leg. Have the class say the words together, then have individual students number off by saying the words in order, from hand to leg, until all students have a word. Remind the students to remember their words.
When today’s class is over, have the students stand by word. When you say “Now all students with the word hand may stand,” those students must clap their hands before standing. When you say “Now all students with the word foot may stand,” those students must stamp their foot. (Use the actions from today’s song.) Move on to another word until all students are standing. Wave and say “Good-bye” to signal that class is over.
