Fly
Alone
for
the
First
Time
I
began
flying
lessons
at
the
age
of
14;
but
the
Federal
Aviation
Administration
requires
you
to
be
16
before
you
make
flight
by
yourself.
So
I
had
to
wait
for
two
long
years
until
I
could
fly
a
plane
by
myself.
I
used
that
time
to
master
the
basic
maneuvers(要领)of
flying.
I
learned
emergency
procedures
and
practiced
hundreds
of
takeoffs
and
landings
until
I
could
land
the
airplane
smoothly
without
bouncing
it
down
the
runway.
It
wasn’t
always
easy,
and
many
times
I
would
come
home
feeling
discouraged
and
thinking
maybe
everyone
was
right—I
would
never
learn
to
fly,
but
by
the
next
day,
I
was
always
eager
to
try
again.
On
the
day
of
my
16th
birthday,
I
made
my
first
solo
flight,
which
meant
I
could
finally
fly
alone.
The
night
before,
my
dad,
who
was
my
flight
instructor,
explained
that
the
winds
were
forecast
to
be
high.
He
said
if
we
were
in
the
air
by
dawn,
the
winds
would
probably
be
calm
enough
for
me
to
solo.
The
next
morning
it
was
cold,
but
the
sky
was
completely
clear,
and
the
winds
were
calm.
I
expected
my
dad
to
stay
in
the
plane
for
at
least
three
takeoffs
and
landings.
But
after
the
first
one,
he
told
me
to
pull
off
the
runway,
and
he
got
out
of
the
plane.
I
was
alone.
As
I
climbed
higher
and
higher,
the
world
began
to
change.
Everything
on
the
ground
became
miniature.
Houses,
cars,
and
all
looked
like
tiny
toys
that
could
fit
in
the
surface
of
my
hand.
I
made
three
takeoffs
and
landings
that
day.
Each
landing
was
perfect.
It
was
one
of
the
happiest
days
of
my
life.
Today,
as
a
flight
instructor,
I
stand
alongside
runways
watching
as
my
own
students
take
to
the
sky
on
their
first
solo
flights.
I
understand
the
joy
faces,
which
always
bring
me
back
to
that
day
when
my
dream
came
true.
I
learned
that
no
matter
how
people
tell
you
that
you
can’t
do
something,
if
you
believe
in
yourself,
you
can
succeed.
25.
When
practicing
flying,
the
author
__________.
A.
met
several
times
of
emergencies
B.
was
worried
about
his
own
safety
C.
couldn’t
wait
to
fly
alone
in
the
sky
D.
sometimes
doubted
his
ability
to
fly
26.
The
underlined
word
“miniature”
probably
means

__________”.
A.
distant
B.
unclear
C.
small
D.
high
27.
What
was
the
father
concerned
about
before
his
son
flied
alone
A.
Whether
it
would
be
too
windy.
B.
Whether
his
son
was
brave
enough.
C.
Whether
he
was
able
to
protect
his
son.
D.
Whether
there
were
negative
comments.
28.
What
lesson
does
the
author
learn
from
his
experience
A.
Be
confident
and
you
will
succeed.
B.
Be
responsible
and
you
can
grow
up.
C.
Give
up
something
and
you
may
win
more.
D.
Think
hard
and
you
can
achieve
your
dream.
C
Every
year,
hundreds
of
millions
of
Monarch
Butterflies(黑脉金斑蝶)
from
Canada
and
the
United
States
journey
as
far
as
2,
500
miles
to
the
forests
of
Michoacan,
Mexico,
a
place
which
has
the
world's
largest
insect
migration(迁移).
It's
such
a
breathtaking
sight,
but
as
always,
human
greed
is
threatening
to
destroy
it.

The
Monarch
Butterflies
start
to
arrive
in
Michoacan
in
late
October
to
make
their
winter
home
in
the
trees
high
up
in
the
mountains
of
the
natural
reserve.
Once
there,
they
gather
together
in
large
masses.
These
masses
often
become
so
heavy
that
they
cause
tree
branches
to
bend
or
even
break.
But
there's
a
purpose
of
all
these
massing

it
allows
the
butterflies
to
survive
in
the
low
nighttime
temperatures
at
these
high
altitudes.

The
Michoacan
Monarch
Butterfly
Sanctuary
is
most
impressive
during
the
months
of
February
and
March,
just
before
the
winged
insects
begin
their
long
journey
home.

Mexico's
Butterfly
Forest
is
a
shelter
protected
by
law,
and
one
of
the
country's
most
popular
sights,
but
that
hasn't
stopped
people
from
slowly
but
steadily
destroying
it.

Illegal
woodcutting
in
the
heart
of
the
Monarch
Butterfly
Biosphere
Reserve
has
been
a
longstanding
problem,
but
criminals
are
rarely
brought
to
justice.
They
are
often
set
free
after
paying
some
money.

Just
last
month,
an
even
greater
threat
rose
in
Michoacan's
butterfly
home.
The
country's
largest
mining
corporation
gained
the
right
to
reopen
an
old
mine
in
the
heart
of
the
monarch
reserve.
Experts
believe
that
if
the
mine
is
reopened,
it
will
likely
spell
the
end
of
this
magical
place.

And
as
if
all
this
wasn't
bad
enough,
the
increasing
use
of
herbicides(除草剂)
in
the
American
corn
belt
has
led
to
the
decrease
of
a
plant
which
is
essential
to
the
monarchs'
development
from
egg
into
butterfly.
29.
When
do
the
Monarch
Butterflies
fly
back
to
Canada
A.
In
January.
B.
In
March.
C.
In
October.
D.
In
December.
30.
What
does
the
underlined
word
"it"
in
Paragraph
2
refer
to
A.
The
weather.
B.
The
reserve.
C.
The
massing.
D.
The
forest.
31.
What
can
we
know
about
the
protection
of
Monarch
Butterflies
in
Mexico
A.
It
is
very
satisfying.
B.
It
should
be
strengthened.
C.
It
cost
the
government
a
lot.
D.
It
has
saved
many
butterflies.
32.
What
can
we
infer
from
the
last
two
paragraphs
A.
Monarch
Butterflies
have
a
worrying
future.
B.
America
has
many
mines
waiting
for
exploration.
C.
Monarch
Butterflies
live
in
the
centre
of
an
old
mine.
D.
The
use
of
herbicides
will
let
Monarch
Butterflies
lay
fewer
eggs.
D
How
Room
Designs
Affect
Our
Work
and
Feelings
Architects
have
long
had
the
feeling
that
the
places
we
live
in
can
affect
our
thoughts,
feelings
and
behaviors.
But
now
scientists
are
giving
this
feeling
an
empirical(经验的,实证的)basis.
They
are
discovering
how
to
design
spaces
that
promote
creativity,
keep
people
focused
and
lead
to
relaxation.
Researches
show
that
aspects
of
the
physical
environment
can
influence
creativity.
In
2007,
Joan
Meyers-Levy
at
the
University
of
Minnesota,
reported
that
the
height
of
a
room’s
ceiling
affects
how
people
think.
Her
research
indicates
that
higher
ceilings
encourage
people
to
think
more
freely,
which
may
lead
them
to
make
more
abstract
connections.
Low
ceilings,
on
the
other
hand,
may
inspire
a
more
detailed
outlook.
In
additions
to
ceiling
height,
the
view
afforded
by
a
building
may
influence
an
occupant's
ability
to
concentrate.
Nancy
Wells
and
her
colleagues
at
Cornell
University
found
in
their
study
that
kids
who
experienced
the
greatest
increase
in
greenness
as
a
result
of
a

made
the
most
gains
on
a

Using

off academically,
and
it
seems
to,

a
study
led
by
C.
Kenneth
Tanner,
head
of
the
School
Design

at
the

of

Tanner
and
his

found
that

views
of
at
least
50
feet
outside
the
window
had
higher
scores
on
tests
of
vocabulary,
language
arts
and
maths
than
did
students
whose
classrooms
primarily
overlooked
roads
and
parking
lots.
Recent
study
on
room
lighting
design
suggests
that
dim(暗淡的)light
helps
people
to
loosen
up.
If
that
is
true
generally,
keeping
the
light
low
during
dinner
or
at
parties
could
increase
relaxation.
Researchers
of
Harvard
Medical
School
also
discovered
that
furniture
with
rounded
edges
could
help
visitors
relax.
So
far
scientists
have
focused
mainly
on
public
buildings.

Of

you
do,
right
That's
like
me

if
I
could

Worry
is
like
black
mold

it
appears
in
damp
conditions
and
spreads
uncontrollably.
And
often
times
we
don't
realize
it's
there
until
it's
killing
us.
We
must
get
rid
of
worry
before
it
destroys
us.

If
you

what
you
should
be
doing,
you
will
end
up
spending
the
rest
of
the

worrying
about
the
must-do
things.
Believe
it
or
not,
the
anxiety
that
comes
from
worrying
is
much
worse
than
the
task
we're
worried
about.

Get
Intentional.

I

many

we're

You

react
to
whatever
is
going

We
need
to
stop
letting

happen.
We
need
to

____38____

____39____

You
can't
have
intentionality
without
making
plans.
Making
plans
will

Yet,
don't

I

and
that
one

their

will

their

I
can

this

my

1)每处错误及其修改均仅限一词;
2)只允许修改10处,
多者(从第11处起)不计分。

I'm
sorry
to
hear
that
you
feel
lonely
in
the
new
school,
because
you
find
hard
to
make
friends.
Now,
I'd
like
to
offer
you
any
advice.

Firstly,
it's
normal
for
you
to
feel
lonely
because
you
were
living
in
a
new
environment.
Secondly,
you
should
greet
your
classmates
when
meet
them
on
campus.
Thirdly,
it
will
be
a
good
idea
if
you
take
an
actively
part
in
class
activities,
what
can
help
them
learn
more
about
you.
I
believe
you
will
be
able
to
make
new
friends
soon
unless
you're
friendly
to
the
others.

I
hope
the
suggestion
above
will
be
helpful
to
you
and
everything
will
be
fine
with
you
for
the
future.
