How to refuse one’s offer在句子中起宾语作用的从句叫做宾语从句, 常由that 引导,用于陈述一件事,that无意义,在口语或非正式文体中常被省略。
He wants to speak to the headmaster. He says. (合并为复合句)
→He says (that) he wants to speak to the
headmaster.从句的主语是that时,that不能省略。 We know that is an interesting film.
我们知道那是一部有趣的电影。 (that作从句主语) 主从句之间有插入语时,that也不能省略; It says here, in the newspapers, that English is getting more and more important.
报纸上说,英语正变得越来越重要。
(in the newspapers是插入语) 主句谓语动词的使用:
主句的谓语动词是say, know, think, hear, hope, wish, believe, tell, remember, forget等时,
或主句的谓语动词是由形容词afraid, glad, sure, sorry等构成的系表结构时,后面常接that引导的宾语从句。

若主句为一般现在时或一般将来时,从句的谓语动词

They know (that) he is working hard. 主句是一般过去时态,从句用相应的过去的时态。
如果宾语从句说的是客观真理、自然现象或事实时,
这时宾语从句要用一般现在时态。 The teacher said that the earth goes round the sun.
