On Friday February 15th, 2008. Kelly’s classmate Kenneth fell down and went into cardiac arrest (心脏停跳) during a gym class at school. Kelly picked up her mobile phone, called 999 and asked for an ambulance.

One of the first things Kelly told Charles was that the school had an automated external defibrillator (自动体外电击器).
Charles and Kelly remained on the phone while the ambulance raced to school. During this time, Kelly updated (更新) Charles with details of how things were progressing with the defibrillator. Charles recorded the progress and passed the information to the advanced paramedic (高级护理人员) so they learned well about Kenneth’s condition (身体状况) when they arrived at the school.
