(At a parents meeting, some parents are asking questions about the allowance given to their kids.)
Should I give my kids an allowance
YES. Why Lots of reasons. If you start while your kids are young, the allowance will provide the money for them to use a money management (管理) system that you set up. Second, it brings about trust and responsibility (责任). Third, it allows your child to develop the wealth (财富) habit.
Should I give my kids an allowance in exchange for housework
NO. Now, some people say that this teaches kids that money comes from hard work, but it doesn’t. And, anyway, do we want our kids to be hard-working factory workers when they grow up or to be rich persons who are useful to our society using their best talents So, do housework. Everyone in a family needs to care for the home. It forms the teamwork (协同工作) habit.
How much money should I give for allowance
The amount (数量) is not as important as deciding what your children are going to do with it. 20 cents or $20 works just as well. The main thing children need to do with allowance is to use it in a system that you give your children for money management.

Our brain is collecting information about the world around us all the time. The people with autism (孤独症) get all of that information, but they are not able to make sense of it all. When they hear, their brain cannot understand what we are saying. Sometimes, sounds that we like are too loud to them. When they look at the world, some things seem to hurt their eyes, and some things seem to be very interesting. Sometimes they are so interested in looking at something that they do not notice what else is going on around them. It is hard for those people to learn to communicate (交流) and understand what is happening in the world around them.
If someone is smiling, we think he or she is happy or wants to be friendly to us. Someone with autism does not make that connection (联系).
If you have someone in your family, or a friend who has autism, you need to be helpful and kind to him. Don’t get unhappy if he doesn’t want to do something with you. Don’t play jokes on him. Praise him when he does something well.

Dear Jack,
Our parents usually give us an allowance every month. But do you know how to use it correctly I think we need to know what kinds of things we need to buy. For example, we can use the money for school things or birthday presents for our family. We mustn’t spend the money on smoking, drinking nor in doing other bad things. Moreover, I think saving money is very important, too.
What’s your opinion Write and tell me next time.
Yours,
Lanlan
