Ⅲ.阅读理解
A
I've
often
wondered
if
I
might
do
more
good
as
a
travel
agent
rather
than
as
a
psychologist.It
seems
that
I
have
been
more
dramatically
affected
by
certain
kinds
of
travel
experiences
than
I
ever
have.
My
trip
to
Iceland
is
a
fine
example
of
that.
The
plan
was
to
spend
two
days
in
a
remote
mountain
hut
in
Iceland.
I
was
working
on
a
photographic
book
about
winter
in
Iceland
and
needed
to
capture
images
of
this
amazing
region
of
high
mountain
peaks,
smoky
volcanoes,
and
lakes
with
floating
icebergs.
The
moment
after
we
arrived,
the
weather
turned
extreme
making
visibility
impossible.
It
snowed
so
much
and
the
wind
blew
so
hard
that
we
couldn't
leave
the
tiny
hut.
To
stay
warm,
we
walked
around
in
circles
much
of
the
day
inside
the
tiny
hut.
We
tried
to
call
for
help
but
the
radio
did
not
work.
Day
after
day,
we
watched
our
supplies
of
food
and
fuel
grow
dangerously
short.
We
got
acute
cabin
fever
(幽居病)
and
started
going
for
walks
and
ski
expeditions
outside.
Even
when
the
weather
finally
broke,
nobody
came
to
get
us
even
though
it
was
three
days
beyond
our
scheduled
pick up.
By
the
time
the
rescue
team
came
to
pull
us
out,
we
had
all
given
up
hope.
From
then
on,
the
world
looks
different
to
me,
as
does
my
life.
It
would
have
taken
me
years
of
psychotherapy
to
get
to
the
same
point.
Almost
everyone
has
a
story
to
tell,
and
interestingly,
most
of
these
experiences
were
not
altogether
pleasant
at
the
time.In
fact,
it
appears
that
the
most
constructive
life changing
journeys
were
those
that
involved
some
sorts
of
awful
and
uncomfortable
events
that
forced
the
person
to
develop
new
resources,
increase
confidence,
and
solve
problems
in
new
ways.
【文章大意】 本文提到作者要拍一本书的图画,去一个小岛,当时的气候不适合拍摄,他们碰到大雪,食物短缺。当救援队到达时,他们已经放弃了希望。作者认为这些经历会使人增加自信。用新的方法来面对生活中的挑战。

special
days:
Mother
Day,
on
the
second
Sunday
in
May,
and
Father's
Day,
on
the
third
Sunday
in
June.
Mother's
Day
was
proclaimed
a
day
for
national
observance
by
President
Woodrow
Wilson
in
1915.
Ann
Jarvis
from
Grafton,
West
Virginia,
had
started
the
idea
to
have
a
day
to
honour
mothers.
She
was
the
one
who
chose
the
second
Sunday
in
May
and
also
began
the
custom
of
wearing
a
carnation.
In
1909,
Mrs
Dodd
from
Spokane,
Washington,
thought
of
the
idea
of
a
day
to
honour
fathers.
She
wanted
to
honour
her
own
father,
William
Smart.
After
her
mother
died,
he
had
the
responsibility
of
raising
a
family
of
five
sons
and
a
daughter.
In
1910,
the

Father's

observed
in
Spokane.
Senator
Margaret
Chase
Smith
helped
to

Father's

day
in

A
white

to
honour
parents.
It
is
also
a
day
when
people

dead
visit
the
cemetery.
On
these
days
families
get
together
at
home,
as

Traveling
is
a
very
good
activity,
when
you
are_fed_up_with
your
work
and
when
you
can
get
a
holiday,
you
can
go
to
the
beautiful
spots
to
enjoy
the
beauty
of
nature
and
the
special
character
of
other
cities.
You
can
breathe
fresh
air,
visit
some
places
of
interest,
meet
different
people
and
make
friends
with
them.
If
you
do
so,
you
will
forget
your
tiredness
and
troubles
and
build
up
your
health.
As
a
result,
you
will
feel
fully
relaxed
and
you
will
have
the
energy
to
undertake
the
new
tasks
waiting
for
you.
But
sometimes,
traveling
is
not
an
enjoyable
thing.
For
example,
when
the
bus
or
car
you
take
has
a
bad
accident,
you
just
sit
in
and
waste
your
time.
What's
more,
the
weather
can
be
changeable.
If
you
are
climbing
a
mountain,
it
may
rain
suddenly.
You
may
be
caught
in
the
rain
and
may
catch
a
cold.
The
worst
thing
is
that
you
may
have
your
money
stolen
and
you
may
have
an
injury.
All
these
are
terrible
things
that
can
happen
to
a
tourist.
Therefore,
when
you
are
going
on
a
trip,
you
must
prepare
yourself
carefully.
Firstly,you
must
have

be
happy.”
or
“If
I
could
get
a
better
job,
then
I
would
enjoy
life.”
But
why

right
now
Firstly,

you
might
not
normally
see.
Doing

you
up.”

someone,
why
not
call,
e mail
or

found
in
putting
other's
interests,
desires
and
concerns
ahead
of
our
own
whenever
possible.
Selfishness
(自私)
is
a
dead end
street.”__5__
A.
Discover
the

please
treasure

don't
need
