注意：表示不同种类的废弃物时， waste可用复数形式。（1）waste (n.) --- “废物”。普通用词，概念广泛，指任何被丢弃的东西。
（2）rubbish (n.) --- “垃圾，废物”。普通用词，指任何成堆的、破损的、用过的或无用的东西，尤指弃掉的垃圾堆。也可作引申用，指愚蠢无用的话语和思想。辨析：waste 与 rubbish拓展：

注意： less是little的比较级, 修饰不可数名词。4.Though pollution is heavy now , I don’t think it’s hopeless.

我想她应该会来的。 (2)hopeless adj. 无望的；无可救药的-less是最常见的含否定意义的英语后缀之一，它附在名词或动词之后主要构成形容词，有时也构成副词。
