IN THIS period, we will mainly focus our attention on two aspects. Firstly, we will help the students have a better understanding of the text by retelling the story according to a brief chart. Secondly, the students will group language points and put them into use by following the sample sentences. Through this process, they can transfer knowledge into competence.
In detail
Step1 Review
Retell the story according to the following chart.
Step 2 Language points
Sentences about the weather and fog
1. …, the city was already covered in a grey mist.
2. …, the radio weatherman reported that the mist would become a thick fog in the afternoon.
3. The truth is that the fog is too thick for the bus to run that far.
4. The weather might be better there…
5. Outside, the fog lay like a thick, grey cloud. There was no one in sight.

1. At four o’clock, Polly left work and stepped out into the fog.
2. Once out in the street, she walked quickly towards her usual bus stop.

5. Polly set off towards Park Street. As she walked along, she heard the sound of footsteps.
