influence: 指通过说服、举例等对行动、思想、性格等产
生不易察觉的、潜移默化的“影响”。

effect: 作名词时指“效果,作用”,做动词时指“使发生,
引起,实现”

effort: 通常做名词,意思是“努力,尝试”等,常用词组:
make an effort to do sth, make efforts to do sth
努力做某事,make every effort 尽一切努力,
spare no effort 不遗余力。
I will make every effort to arrive on time.
我将尽一切努力准时到达。
We should spare no effort to beauty our environment.
我们应该不遗余力地美化我们的环境。7. join, combine, connect & unite
join: “结合,连接”,泛指任何事物的直接连接,连接的
程度可松可紧,含“还能够分离”之意。
We joined the two ends of the wire to the battery.
我们把电线的两头接到了电瓶上。
combine: “合并,结合”,指把两个或两个以上的人或事物
合在一起,含有为了一个共同的目的结合后仍不
改变或失去其本性之意。
Combine the eggs with a little flour and heat the mixture
gently.
把鸡蛋与少许面粉和在一起,用温火加热。connect : “结合,连接”,指通过某种媒介把各种事物连接
起来,语气比combine & unite 弱。
