More
than
anything
else
in
the
world,
Lion
liked
being
King
of
the
jungle.
He
walked
around,
showing
off
his
power
and
pride.
Each
day
Lion
took
a
long
lazy
sleep
under
the
shade
of
his
favourite
tree.
He
always
dreamed
of
weaker
animals
bowing(鞠躬)
before
him.
One
day
Mouse
ran
through
the
jungle
and
tripped
over
Lion’s
huge
paws.
Lion
woke
up
with
a
start.
“How
dare
you
wake
me
up!

he
shouted
angrily.
Lion
grabbed
Mouse
with
one
paw.
“On
the
second
thought,
I’m
in
the
mood
for
the
snack,
and
you’ll
make
a
delicious
meal.”,
he
said.
Mouse
cried
out,
“King
Lion,
please
spare(饶恕)
me!
If
you
let
me
live,
I’ll
always
remember
your
kindness.
And,
some
day,
I
might
be
able
to
help
you.”

How
could
such
a
powerless
little
mouse
ever
help
me ”
That
thought
made
Lion
laugh
so
much
that
he
decided
to
let
Mouse
go.
A
week
later,
Lion
was
walking
through
the
jungle
on
the
way
to
his
favourite
tree
when
he
stepped
onto
a
hunter’s
net.
The
net
scooped
him
up.
No
matter
how
he
twisted
and
turned,
he
couldn’t
escape.
When
Mouse
heard
Lion’s
frightened
shouts,
he
raced
to
help.
Mouse
quickly
chewed(咬)through
the
ropes
to
make
a
hole
in
the
net.
Soon,
Lion
moved
out
and
was
free.
Lion
looked
down
at
the
little
mouse.
“Thank
you
for
saving
my
life,”
said
Lion,
smiling
his
widest
smile.
“I
was
mistaken.
You
are
not
a
powerless
little
mouse.
You
are
a
great
friend!”

A
new
report
says
more
and
more
international
students
are
attending
colleges
and
universities
in
the
United
States.
It
also
notes
a
large
increase
in
the
number
of
international
students
from
China.
These
findings
are
from
the
latest
Open
Doors
Report.
The
report
documents
the
record
number
of
international
students
in
the
United
States
during
2012,
2013
school
year.
It
says
more
than
seven
hundred
sixty-four
thousand
four-hundred
such
students
were
attending
American
colleges
and
universities
during
the
last
two
years.
That
represents
an
increase
of
almost
six
percent
than
one
year
earlier.
On
the
other
hand,
the
number
of
Americans
studying
overseas
(海外)
increased
by
one
percent,
which
reached
nineteen
thousand
this
year.
The
report
says
one
hundred
ninety-four
thousand
students
at
American
colleges
and
universities
were
from
China.
That
is
an
increase
of
more
than
twenty-three
percent
over
the
year
before.
Peggy
Blumenthal,
an
expert(专家)
of
international
education,
described
the
effect
of
the
increase
in
Chinese
students.
"Now
they
have
been
coming
for
some
time.
But
this
year
was
the
highest
level
ever."
She
says
many
Chinese
families
are
able
to
pay
for
the
highest-quality
education
for
their
children.
The
children
mainly
choose
to
study
in
America.
"We
know
many
of
them
have
enough
income
to
be
able
to
afford
to
send
them
anywhere
in
the
world
that
they
want
to
go.
And
for
the
most
part,
looking
around
the
world,
Chinese
students
still
prefer
to
come
to
the
United
States
as
their
choice."
Chinese
students
are
not
the
only
ones
who
want
to
attend
American
colleges
and
universities.
After
China,
India
sends
the
second
largest
number
of
students
to
the
United
States
for
higher
education.
India
has
about
one
hundred
thousand
students
in
American
schools.
South
Korea
is
third
with
about
seventy
two
thousand
students.
Why
do
so
many
foreign
students
study
in
the
United
States
Peggy
Blumenthal
provides
one
reason.
"The
advantage
America
has
is
that
we
have
a
huge
system
and
a
very
perfect
system.
So
there
are
over
four
thousand
universities
and
colleges
in
the
United
States.
Among
them
are
some
top
ones
in
the
world,
and
what
that
tells
us
is
there
is
still
a
lot
of
room
to
host
international
students."
Foreign
students
represent
less
than
four
percent
of
the
total
student
population
in
American
higher
education.

Do
you
know
that
a
student
can
produce
up
to
240
pounds
of
school
waste
and
lots
of
waste
gas
during
a
term
This
includes
transportation,
food,
paper,
pens,
pencils
and
so
on.
Transportation
Many
parents
like
driving
their
kids
to
school
every
day.
We
all
know
waste
gas
from
cars
is
a
main
cause
of
air
pollution.
If
parents
who
live
in
a
neighborhood
can
take
turns
to
drive
their
kids
to
school
each
day,
that’ll
be
better.
Another
way
of
going
green
is
to
walk
to
school
if
students
live
near
it.
Food
It
is
surprising
that
only
one
primary
school
could
produce
up
to
19,000
pounds
of
lunch
waste
each
year.
That
is
only
one
school.
One
way
to
help
take
care
of
the
environment
is
to
stop
using
plastic
bags.
There
are
all
kinds
of
environmental
boxes
for
students
to
put
their
food
in.
Paper,
pens
and
pencils
A
lot
of
paper
is
thrown
away
by
American
students.
They
throw
away
about
1.6
billion
pens
every
year.
They
waste
many
pens
and
the
chemicals
of
them
are
bad
for
the
environment.
Much
more
pencils
are
thrown
away
than
pens.
Pencils
are
made
of
trees,
so
if
more
pencils
are
thrown
away,
more
trees
will
be
cut
down.
So
students
should
reuse
paper,
pens
and
pencils
instead
of
throwing
them
away.
Backpacks
As
fashion
comes
and
goes,
almost
every
kid
needs
a
new
backpack
every
year.
They
can
save
a
lot
of
money
and
materials(材料)if
they
reuse
the
same
schoolbags.
