1.mind
作动词时,意为“留心,介意”,后接名词/动词-ing/从句,一般用于否定句、疑问句和条件句中。
常见句型“Would you mind…?”相当于“Do you mind…?”,其后都接动词-ing形式或if从句。
表示不介意做某事时,常用“Not at all./No,I don’t./Certainly not./Of course not./No,go ahead.”等;若介意做某事时,常用“I’m sorry,but…/I’m afraid…/I wish you wouldn’t.”等。2.stand
v.忍受;站立。stand表示“忍耐,忍受,经受(疼痛、煎熬、寒暑等)”,多数情况下与can’t/can/couldn’t/could连用,常用于否定句或疑问句中,不可与进行时连用。固定搭配:stand+名词/代词,stand to do sth.,stand doing sth.。

◆【辨析】 happen,take place
(1)happen通常用于描述意外发生的事件,主语往往是表示事件、事故的名词或代词。happen to sb./sth.某人/某物发生了什么事情。主语通常由 accident 或 类似it,what,this,that,thing,
something 等担任。
The road accident happened under my eyes.我亲眼目睹了这场道路交通事故。
What happened to you?你发生什么事了? (2)take place表示“发生;举行”之意时,常指某事件是按意图或计划“发生”的,不含偶然的意味,其主语常是表示“运动、活动、会议等”的名词。
The May 4th Movement took place in 1919.五四运动发生于一九一九年。
The Olympic Games take place every four years.奥林匹克运动会每四年举行一次。
【拓展】 happen to do sth.表示“碰巧去做某事”。

◆expect期望,希望,预料,含有知道某事即将发生,引申为“等待,盼望”,感彩较浓。expect to do sth.期盼做某事,expect sb. to do sth. 期望/期待某人做某事,“expect+ that从句”期待……。
