One
Sunday
evening,

was

dark

old
Stanley
went
for
his
walk.
He
was
walking
along
the
sidewalk,
Suddenly,
he
saw
a
white
car
coming
around
the
corner
at
high
speed.
It
was
going
too
fast
and
crashed
into
a
red
car
in
the
street
where
he
was
walking.
He
rushed
up
to
the
cars
to
see
if
anyone

hurt
and
needed
help.
The
two
drivers

arguing.
“You

said
the

car,
“That’s
not
true!
Your
car
was
parked
in
a
wrong
place.”
Stanley
listened
to
their
argument
and
then
said
the

car
driver
was
wrong
to
drive
too
fast.
The

“Do

asked
the
lawyer.
“Yes,
I
do,”
answered
Stanley.
“Were
you
wearing
them
on
the
night
of
the
accident ”
the
lawyer
asked.
“No,”
replied
Stanley.
Then
the
lawyer
said,
“Why
should
the
court
believe
you
You
are
eighty-two
years
old,
you
were
not
wearing
your
glasses,
and
it
was
dark.
How
far
can

Stanley
thought
about
it
for
a

“Well,”
he
said,

the

Peng
Liyuan,
First
Lady
of
China,
made
a
speech
in
English
at
the
United

She
talked
about
education
and
shared
her
Chinese
dream
with
the
world.
Peng
began
the
speech
with
a
story
of
her
father.
Her
father
grew
up
in
a
very
small
village
in
China.
In
those
days,
not
many

her
father

school
to

With
his

their
names
and
read
newspapers
for
the

time.
And
many

were

to

their
children

Peng’s
father’s
love
for
education
influenced
her
deeply.

lucky
enough
to
have
a
good
education.
Later,
she
followed
in
her
father’s
footsteps
and
became
a
professor
of
music.
Education
is
important,
but
still,
some
children
in
China
can’t
go
to
school.
Peng
hopes
that
all
children,
especially
girls,
can
have
a
good
education,
and
that
is
her
Chinese
dream.

Lu
Xun
is
one
of
the
greatest
Chinese
writers
of
the
20th
century.
Besides
his
famous
stories,
he
also
wrote
many
influential
articles
about
the
living
conditions
of
Chinese
people.
Born
in
1881
to
a
wealthy
family,
Lu
Xun
had
a
happy
childhood.
In
1893,
however,
his
grandfather,
a
senior
government
official,
was
put
into
prison
for
taking
money.
At
the
same
time,
his
father
became
seriously
ill.
From
that
time
on,
his
family
were
no
longer
accepted
by
their
relatives
and
friends.
These
early
experiences
greatly
influenced
his
writing.
By
the
time
Lu
Xun
arrived
in
Nanjing
to
study
at
university
in
1899,
he
already
believed
that
Chinese
society
had
to
change
and
become
modern.
In
1902
he
went
to
study
in
Japan.
There,
he
began
writing
articles
for
several
Chinese
student
magazines.
He
showed
a
gift
for
writing
and
translating
and
he
even
wrote
several
books,
although
none
was
popular.
He
returned
to
China
in
1909
because
he
was
in
need
of
money.
After
working
for
several
years
as
a
teacher
in
Beijing,
Lu
Xun
again
returned
to
writing.
In
1918,
he
wrote
his
famous
short
story
Diary
of
a
Madman.
It
was
the
first
Chinese
novel
published
using
the
everyday
language
that
people
spoke,
which
helped
make
it
a
great
success.
This,
together
with
his
novel
The
True
Story
of
Ah
Q
(1921),
made
Lu
Xun
a
leading
Chinese
writer.
Although
successful,
Lu
Xun
still
worried
greatly
about
China’s
future.
In
1926,
he
moved
to
Shanghai
and
gave
up
writing
stories
in
order
to
devote
himself
to
what
he
called
“pen
warfare”.
He
now
only
wrote
articles
which
called
on
the
people
to
fight
against
the
government.
For
this,
the
government
stopped
him
from
publishing
any
more
books.
He
was
forced
to
write
his
articles
using
false
names.
Since
his
death
in
1936,
Lu
Xun’s
importance
and
influence
have
grown.
Today,
many
of
his
writings
are
included
in
school
textbooks
and
his
works
are
read
by
millions
around
the
world.

Don’t
complain
in
the
NBA
The
NBA
has
a
new
rule(规则)
this
season.
It’s
called
“zero
tolerance(容忍)”.
NBA
referees(裁判)
are
not
letting
players
complain
too
long
or
too
loudly
about
a
referee’s
call(裁决).
A
player
who
does
can
be
given
a
foul
(犯规).
Two
fouls,
and
the
player
is
out
of
the
game.
The
players
don’t
like
the
new
rule
and
want
the
NBA
to
change
it.
During
an
exciting,
close
game,
each
side
may
win.
They
think
it’s
only
natural
to
get
angry
if
a
call
goes
against
you.
But
I
like
the
“zero
tolerance”
rule
and
wish
other
sports
would
follow
the
NBA’s
example.
Won’t
it
be
more
enjoyable
if
football,
soccer
and
tennis
players
stop
arguing
the
calls
and
just
played
the
game
Why
do
I
like
the
new
rule
The
biggest
reason
is
that
it
sets
a
good
example
to
younger
players.
When
kids
see
stars
shouting
at
the
referees
and
arguing
every
call,
they
think
it’s
part
of
the
game.
But
shouting
at
referees
and
arguing
calls
should
never
be
part
of
any
kid’s
games.
Kids
should
be
taught
to
forget
about
the
referees’
calls
and
try
to
improve
their
skills
and
play
their
best.
All
players
need
to
learn
that
you
control
only
one
thing
in
a
game,
and
that’s
your
own
performance.
You
can’t
control
what
the
other
players
or
trainers(教练员)
do.
And
you
certainly
can’t
control
the
calls
the
referees
make.
Finally,
no
one
from
NBA
to
8-year-old
children
should
forget
that
being
a
basketball
referee
is
a
hard
job.
The
referee
has
to
make
lots
of
sudden
calls.
They
cannot
be
slow
or
wait.
Chances
will
never
come
back.
Not
even
the
best
referee
gets
every
call
right.
Maybe
if
the
players,
trainers
and
fans
who
shout
at
the
referees
have

When
Chen
Jiuying
read
her
daughter's
letter,
she
couldn't
help
crying.
Chen
and
her
husband
are
now
working
far
away
from
their
hometown.
Their
daughter,
Xiao
Li,
is
looked
after
by
her
grandparents.
Like
Chen,
many
migrant
workers(外来务工人员)
are
dreaming
about
a
better
life,
so
they
have
to
leave
their
children
behind.
According
to
a
survey,
there
are
now
about
61
million
left-behind
children(留守儿童)
in
poor
areas
in
China.
This
has
brought
many
problems.
These
children
care
little
about
ot
hers.
They
do
not
do
well
at
school.
They
lose
confidence
.
Luckily,
many
Chinese
are
now
thinking
about
the
life
of
the
left-behind
children
and
actions
have
been
taken
to
help
solve
the
problem.
A
charity
event
took
place
in
Beijing
before
Children's
Day.
Its
aim
was
to
raise
social
awareness(意识)
of
left -behind
children.
The
event
was
held
to
raise
money
from
businesses
and
the
public
to
prepare
“love
bags”.
Inside
the
bags,
these
are
things
for
children,
including
books,
torches,
and
envelopes(信封)
and
stamps
so
that
children
can
write
to
their
parents.
The
event
was
started
by
Chen
Weihong,
a
television
host
in
China.
“The
left --behind
children
don't
have
enough
parental
love
and
family
care.
They
need
to
be
in

with
their
parents.
We
hope
our
love

will
help
them
communicate
with
their
parents,
and
make
them
happier,
”
he
said.

In

drew
a
lot

attention
across
China
with
his

Zhou

shocked
the

talent
as
a
singer.
When
she
was
very
young,
she
used
to
watch
her
mother
sing
and
dance
on
stage,
and
dreamed
that
one
day,
she
too
would
perform.
At
the
age

Han

came
to

Han

often
after
she

In
her

her
hometown
hasn't
changed.
That's
the
theme
of
her
song,Hometown,
which
tells
about
her
happy
childhood
in
Tibet.
This
song
also
hit
the
top
of
the
charts,
collecting
more
than
40
awards
in
three
months.
Han
Hong
returned
to
Tibet
last
year.
She
passed
through
cities
and
towns,
and
was
moved
by
the
friendly
people
and
their
simple
lives.
All
this
led
to
her
writing
a
song
called
Passing
Through.
Yet,
Han
Hong's
songs,
which
deal
with
the
theme
of
Tibet,
make
up
just
a
small
part
of
her
works.
As
a
pop
singer,
Han
Hong
has
tried
different
styles
of
music,
such
as
Jazz,
R&-B,
Rock
and
Roll
and
Latin
music.

Have
you
ever
wondered
why
birds
sing
Maybe
you
thought
that
they
were
just
happy.
After
all,
you
probably
sing
when
you
are
happy.
Some
scientists
believe
that
birds
do
sing
when
they
are
happy.
However
they
sing
most
of
the
time
for
a
very
different
reason一to
warn(警告)
other
birds
to
stay
out
of
their
territory.
Do
you
know
what
a
"territory"
is
A
territory
is
an
area
that
an
animal
regards
it
as
its
own.
Only
he
and
his
family
are
welcome
there.
Others
are
not
welcome.
Your
house
is
your
territory
where
only
your
family
and
friends
are
welcome.
If
a
stranger
should
enter
your
territory
and
make
your
life
in
danger,
you
might
shout.
Probably
this
would

A
bird
does
the
same
thing.
But
he

So
he

This

a

it

enough
to

an

Vivian,

I
have
some
tricks
to
help
remember
lessons.
First,
you
need
to
understand
the
meaning
of
each
sentence.
The
better
you
understand,
the
easier
it
is
to
remember.
Second,
you
can
do
research
to
get
some
background
on
it,
like
its
writer
and
how
he
or
she
wrote
it.
It
can
help
you
understand
the
story
better.
Finally,
read
it
aloud
and
imagine
things
in
the
story.
You
may
find
a
lot
of
pictures
come
to
mind.
Then
try
to
describe
them.

Finding

can
be
hard
sometimes.
But
don’t
worry.
It’s
all
about
finding
what
works
for
you.
One
thing
that
always
helps
me
is
taking
good
notes
while
I
read
my
lessons.
But
instead
of
copying
it
word
for

I
put
it

This
will
help

More

the

Lion
liked
being
King
of
the
jungle.
He
walked
around,
showing

his
power
and
pride.
Each
day
Lion
took
a
long
lazy
sleep
under
the
shade
of
his
favourite

He

dreamed
of
weaker
animals
bowing(鞠躬)

him.
One
day
Mouse
ran
through
the
jungle
and
tripped
over
Lion’s
huge
paws.
Lion
woke
up

a
start.
“How

me

Lion

“On
