Step 1: Warm-up and revision
1. Let’s chant
T: Boys and girls, let’s chant together
Chant: Friends are like you and me,Some are old, some are new.Some like reading, some like diving.Friends are like me and you.
2. Play a memory game
T: We are friends now. Let’s play a game. OK
The teacher divides the students into two groups to have a race.
And make the students guess“what does he/ she do ”
T: Now, look! Group… is the winner. Congratulations! Are you happy
Ss: Yes.
T: I think you’re excited. (Teach “excited” and practice.)
3. Review the phrases
The phrases are: does homework, does sports, plays computer games,
draws pictures, makes kites, watches cartoons, reads newspapers,
T: I say go, you say goes.
T: go, go, go
Ss: goes, goes, goes .
Step 2: Presentation and practice
1. Learn the new sentence: They look the same, but they are very different.
(1) Present a picture of one pair of twins.
T: I like playing with my friends. Look, Lily is my friend. And this is her sister Lucy.
T: They are twins. They look the same. (Stick “They look the same” on the blackboard.)
T: But they are very different. Why Let’s have a look.
(2) Present a chart of the twins about their activities. Then the teacher asks some questions.

T: How does Lily/ Lucy go to school S: ….
T: what does Lily/ Lucy do on the weekends S: ….
T: So Lily and Lucy look the same, but they are very different. (Stick “but they are very different” on the blackboard.)
2. Learn the passage
(1) Listen to the tape and answer the questions.
T: Lily is my friend. How about Liu Yun’s friend Do you remember who is Liu Yun’s friend
Present Alice and introduce Alice’s family.
T: Now open your book and listen. Then answer the questions on the book.
(2) Read the text again and finish the chart.
T: Alice reads newspapers every evening. How about her sister Ann Please read the book again and finish the chart.

Check the answers, then lead the students to say the text according to the chart
(3) Have the students retell the text.
(4) Read the text together.
Step 3: Consolidation and extension
1. Talk about your friends.
T: Alice is coming to China soon. We are leaving our school soon. You must have many friends. Can you say something about your best friend.. (Give the students some key words and lead them to talk about)
2. Write down the passage.
3. Present a poem and teach the students to love each other.
