第二部分
阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
In
court
at
9
o’clock.
Apart
from
me
there
are
a
few
old
ladies
who
have
come
to
the
court
and
a
class
of
14-15
year-olds
with
their
teacher.
9:05
Court
starts.
First
case:
Henry
P.,
47,
divorced,
charged
with
being
drunk.
He
refused
to
leave
a
pub
at
closing
time
and
caused
a
bit
of
damage
when
the
police
tried
to
arrest
him.
P.
said
he
had
had
an
argument
with
his
boss
and
could
not
face
going
home
to
an
empty
flat.
9:50
Mrs
F.,
72,
shoplifting
(店内偷窃).
Apparently
Mrs
F.
had
stolen
a
frozen
chicken,
which
she
had
hidden
under
her
hat
(At
this
the
school
children
burst
out
laughing
and
even
the
judges
have
difficulty
keeping
a
straight
face).
The
chicken
was
so
cold
that
she
fell
unconscious,
otherwise
she
would
probably
not
have
been
caught.
Mrs
F,
in
tears,
says
she
had
not
eaten
meat
for
three
weeks.
It
turns
out
that,
although
she
has
the
old
-
age
pension,
she
does
not
know
about
other
forms
of
support.
10:30
Peter
D.,
19.
D.
stole,
or
rather
“borrowed”
a
motorcycle,
intending,
he
said,
to
give

after
trying
it
out.
D.’s
father
is
at
sea
and
the
mother
is
left
to
bring
up
four
children,
of
whom
Peter
is
the
eldest,
by
herself.
11:00
Mrs
A.,
45,
a
doctor’s
wife,
president
of
a
local
ladies’
club,
was
caught
leaving
a
fashion
shop
wearing
two
dresses,
only
one
of
which
belonged
to
her.
Admitting
that
she
had
wanted
to
steal
the
dress,
she
could
not
explain
why.

If
you
believe
in
thermometers(温度计),you
should
believe
in
global
warming.
And
if
you
believe
in
eating
fries
with
your
hamburger,
you
should
worry
more
about
carbon
emissions.
It
won't
happen
overnight,
but
as
the
planet's
climate
changes,
the
growth
cycles
of
main
crops
will
all
be
heavily
affected.
Here
are
three
of
the
crops
that
might
not
beat
the
heat.
The
potato
actually
needs
a
great
deal
of
beauty
rest
to
develop
properly.
“They
need
a
cool
nighttime
temperature
in
order
to
start
growing
the
tuber,
the
part
that
we
eat,”
Nelson
says.
Temperature
and
altitude
are
two
primary
concerns
in
coffee
growth,
and
farmers
are
stuck
between
a
rock
and
a
hard
place.“We
know
that
coffee
grows
in
a
certain
temperature
range,
”Nelson
says.“They've
been
moving
up
the
mountains,
but
at
some
point
you
run
out
of
mountains
to
move
up.”Higher-grade
strains
of
Arabica
coffee
in
Central
American
regions
are
at
particular
risk
due
to
the
need
for
lower
growing
temperature,
especially
since
diseases
and
pests
are
also
becoming
more
of
a
factor
as
temperatures
rise.
Even
if
you're
looking
at
the
direct
effects
of
temperature
alone,
rice
is
in
trouble.“As
nighttime
temperatures
go
up,
the
rice
is
going
to
have
a
problem
flowering
and
won't
make
as
many
seeds,
”Nelson
says.
In
addition
to
this
direct
heat
consequence,
rising
sea
levels
will
flood
many
rice
fields
and
destroy
water
salinity
levels,
while
droughts
will
lower
production,
raise
prices,
and
further
shame
westerners
who
are
too
clumsy
with
chopsticks
to
be
able
to
clear
their
plates
once
a
new
grain
is
adopted.

25.What
does
the
potatoes'
development
need
according
to
Nelson
A
.Enough
water
and
salt.
B
Sudden
rise
of
the
temperature..
C.
Much
sunshine
and
fresh
air.
D.
Cool
temperature
at
night.
26.The
rice
is
difficult
to
flower,
probably
because______.
A.
sea
levels
go
up
suddenly
B.
the
temperature
rises
at

C
.many
seeds
can't
be
produced
D
.both
temperature
and

Affect

Some
people
are
so
rude!
Who
sends
an
e-mail
or
a
text
message
that
just
says
“Thank
you”
Who
leaves
a
voice
mail
message
rather
than
texts
you
Who
asks
for
a
fact
easily
found
on
Google
Don’t
these
people
realize
that
they’re
wasting
your
time
Maybe
I’m
the
rude
one
for
not
appreciating
life’s
little
politeness.
But
many
social
agreed
standards
just
don’t
make
sense
to
people
drowning
in
digital
communication.
In
texts,
you
don’t
have
to
declare
who
you
are
or
even
say
hello;
E-mail,
too,
is
slower
than
a
text;
Voice
mail
is
a
now
impolite
way
of
trying
to
connect.
My
father
learned
this
lesson
after
leaving
me
a
dozen
voice
mail
messages,
none
of
which
I
listened
to.
Exasperated,
he
called
my
sister
to
express
his
dissatisfaction
that
I
never
returned
his
phone
calls.
“Why
are
you
leaving
him
voice
mails ”
my
sister
asked.
“Just
text
him.”
In
the
age
of
the
smart
phone,
there
is
no
reason
to
ask
once-acceptable
questions
about:
the
weather
forecast,
a
business’s
phone
number,
or
directions
to
a
house,
a
restaurant,
which
can
be
easily
found
on
Google
Maps.
But
people
still
ask
these
things.
And
when
you
answer,
they
respond
with
a
thank-you
e-mail.
How
to
handle
these
different
standards
Easy:
Consider
your
audience.
Some
people,
especially
older
ones,
appreciate
a
thank-you
message.
Others,
like
me,
want
no
reply.
The
anthropologist
(人类学家)
Margaret
Mead
once
said
that
in
traditional
societies,
the
young
learn
from
the
old.
But
in
modem
societies,
the
old
can
also
learn
from
the
young.
Here’s
hoping
that
politeness
never
goes
out
of
fashion
but
that
time-wasting
forms
of
communication
do.
28.
What
does
the
underlined
word
“exasperated”
mean
in
the
fifth
paragraph
A.
Worried.
B.
Surprised.
C.
Annoyed.
D.
Tired.
29.
Why
didn’t
the
writer
reply
to
his
father
A.
He
didn’t
want
to
talk
with
his
father.
B.
He
liked
text
messages
better.
C.
He
didn’t
receive
any
voice
mail
messages.
D.
He
enjoyed
checking
his
voice
mails.
30.
Which
of
the
following
does
the
writer
agree
to
A.
Dealing
with
voice
mail
should
vary
with
each
individual.
B.
Declaring
who
they
are
or
saying
hello
in
texts
is
necessary
C.
People
needn’t
learn
from
one
another
in
traditional
societies.
D.
People
needn’t
turn
to
Google
for
help
when
in
trouble.
31.
What’s
the
best
title
of
this
passage
A.
Nowadays:

you
need
a
thank-you
message.
B.
Nowadays:

Shoppers
in
the
UK
are
spending
less
money
on
toilet

to
save
money,
research
has
shown.
Penny
saving
UK
consumers
choose
cheaper
products
from
discounters
such
as
Aldi
and
Lidi
rather
than
expensive
alternatives.
This
has
wiped
6%
off
the
value
of
the
soft
tissue
paper
market
in
the
UK.
It
has
shrunk
from
1.19
billion
in
2011
to
1.
12billion
in
2015,
according
to
a
new
report
from
market
research
company
Mintel.
Furthermore,
the
future
of
the
market
looks
far
from
positive,
with
sales
expected
to
fall
further
to
1.11billion
in
2016.
In
the
last
year
alone,
despite
an
increase
in
the
UK
population
and
a
rise
in
the
number

households,
sales
of
toilet
paper
fell
by
2%,
with
the
average
household
reducing
their
toilet

Overall,
almost
three

with
just
a

part
of
consumers

more
expensive
alternatives,
such
as
those

said
analyst
Jack

"These

typically
more
expensive
than
regular

even
when
on
special
offer."
While
consumers
are
spending
less
on
toilet
paper,
they
remain
particular
about
it

it
comes
to
paper
quality.
One

toilet

recycled
paper
among
their
top
considerations,
highlighting
how
overall
the

less

a

than
product
quality.
In
a
challenge
for
manufacturers(制造商),
81%
of
paper
product
users
said
they
would
consider
buying
recycled
toilet
tissue
if
it

in
quality
to
standard

Three

It
was
rather
big

with
beautiful

We
were

Late

The

I

that
I

version:
Dear
Leslie,
I’m
Li
Hua.
I’m
writing
to
invite
you
to
join
in
the
Reader
Activity,
which
is
aimed
to
promote
our
interest
in
reading
and
also
enjoys
great
popularity
across
China
at
the
moment.
The
activity
will
be
held
in
front
of
our
school
library
with
a
newly-built
pavilion
outside,
located
in
the
west
of
our
school.
It
will
start
at

next
Sunday
morning
and
last
three
hours.
Any
student
in
our
school
who
is
keen
on
reading
can
try
out
for
it.
What
I
intend
to
stress
is
that
each
participant
is
supposed
to
read
aloud
in
turn
in
the
Reading
Pavilion
and
that
they
should
limit
their
performance
to
3
minutes.
What’s
more,
the
selected
reading
material,
ranging
from
essays
to
poetry,
ought
to
be
positive
and
inspiring.
There
is
no
doubt
that
you
would
learn
a
lot
by
improving
your
reading
and
speaking
in
Chinese
if
you
became
one
of
the
readers.
Looking
forward
to
your
reply.
Yours.
