单元教材分析
Unit 3以“ What were you doing when the UFO arrived”为课题。谈论如何使用过去进行时。如何使用过去进行时是本单元的重难点。通过观察图片,利用图片进行情景思维,学会讲故事,俩俩对话,角色扮演等形式和独立学习,合作交流,完成任务等来培养学生的综合语言运用能力,创新意识和实践能力。
Section A Period 1 (1a-Grammar Focus)
Step1: Free talk
T: What time is it S: 8:40.
T: What are you doing S1: I’m studying.
S2: I’m having an English class. S3: I’m listening to the teacher…..
T: What were you doing at 8:40 yesterday S: I was Ving…. (同时板书答语)
Step2:出示studying aims: 1.掌握过去进行时 2.掌握when和while的用法
3. 用when和while熟练组织句子
Step3:讲解过去进行时
过去进行时
1.意义:表示在过去某一时刻或某段时间内正在进行的动作
2.构成:was / were + 现在分词(was是am、is的过去式,were是are的过去式)
3.例句:
He was cooking in the kitchen at 12 o’clock yesterday .昨天12点,他正在厨房烧饭。
She was writing a letter when I came in .我进来时,她正在写封信。
What were you doing all day yesterday 昨天一整天你都在做什么?
Step4:以奥运会的开幕导入,学生结合实际来回答问题。
--- What were you doing when the Olimpic Games began ---I was Ving … .
Step5: 奥运会让我们兴奋,而有一样东西一直以来让我们感到神秘,请同学们看图片:
UFO: Unidentified Flying Object 不明飞行物
One day, a UFO visited a small city. What happened Let’s have a look.
Look at the people in the city, where were they when the UFO arrived
Read the sentences in 1a and finish it.
区分in front of & in the front of
Finish 1b, listen and circle the correct responses.
Step6:Role play:结合1a, 1b完成对话。
A: Where were you when the UFO arrived
B: I was… .
A: Were you …
B: Yes, I was. / No, I wasn’t.
Step7:2a listening
先自读句子,熟悉句意,老师点明需要注意的词或短语:bought a souvenir, land on Center Street, got out of… .
Listen and number the statements in the order you hear them.
Step8:2b Creful plete the following sentences with “when” or “while”.
The boy was walking down the street ______a UFO landed.
The girl was shopping ______ she saw the alien get out.
______ the alien was buying a souvenir, the girl called the police.
______ the alien was visitng the museum, the boy called the TV station.
Check the answers: when when while while
学生找规律:可能会发现when 后面都是一般过去时,而while 后面都是过去进行时。
告诉学生准确的区别:when 后常用非延续性动词,而while后必须是表示动作或状态的延续性动词 。所以我们见到的while后从句都是表状态的主系表结构或表动作的进行时态,when后常是一般过去时。
根据以上区别要求学生改写句子:

______the girl was shopping, she saw the alien get out.
The alien was buying a souvenir _____the girl called the police.
The alien was visiting the museum ______the boy called the TV station.
Step9: Groupwork :给出问题What were you doing when the UFO arrived 组内每个同学写出自己的答案。然后按照下面图示尽可能多的说出正确的句子,注意when和while的用法。
可在黑板上板书此图,让一组同学写在黑板上,师生共同作示范说句子。例如:
S1:I was sleeping.
S2:I was studying.
S3:I was playing.
S4:I was eating.
师生共同示范:
When the UFO arrived, S1 was sleeping.
While S2 was studying, the UFO landed.
While S3 was playing, S4 was eating.
……
小组内展开说句子, 提醒学生注意when 和while 的用法,互相监督。

Step2: 猜谜语
There are 26 letters in English. I and E ran away. How many letters are left
答案是21。IE是外星人,乘着UFO走了。外星人的英文名称是alien.
Step3: Look at Ted’s unusual experience. He met an alien one day.
Listen to the e-mail message and number the pictures in the correct order.
Check the answers: 5 3 4 1 2
Step4:学生根据图画答案把文章分成5部分。
讲解文章:在讲故事的同时,点出需要标记的知识点。
Picture1: 学生在文章中找出对应的部分。
Notes: 1.walk down the street 沿着街道走
2.right 正好
3.in front of … 在……前面(外)
in the front of … 在……的前部(内)
出示图画,文字提示(包括时间和人物),要求学生试着复述Picture1.
Picture2: 学生在文章中找出对应的部分。试着复述Picture2。
Picture3: 学生在文章中找出对应的部分。
Notes: 1. follow sb. / sth 跟随某人(某事物)
2. surprised “惊奇的”,修饰人。surprising “令人惊奇的”, 修饰物。
be surprised to do 做某事感到很惊奇
3. call the police 报警
出示图画,文字提示(包括地点和人物),要求学生试着复述Picture3.
Picture4: 学生在文章中找出对应的部分。
Notes: Isn’t that amazing! 太令人惊叹了!这是感叹句的一种表达形式。
如: Aren’t they perfect!
另外还有用how 和what开头的感叹句。例:
How strange it is!
What an unusual experience I had!
出示图画,文字提示(包括时间和人物),要求学生试着复述Picture4.
Picture5: 学生在文章中找出对应的部分。试着复述Picture5。
Retell the story according to the pictures in pairs.
Step5: Cheking in class about the Notes:

每个人都是小记者。请在1分钟之内采访周围的同学这两个问题:What were you doing at nine o’clock last Sunday morning/afternoon 并在表格内做好记录。看谁采访的同学最多,谁就是最棒小记者。在采访之前先给同学们看一下一个示例:

提示同学们也可参照课本P19-4Groupwork中的句型结构。
最后要求同学们把采访的结果写成汇报的文章形式。

shout to sb(由于距离远)朝某人大喊

Step3: Listen. Check the six things you hear in the chart below.
1. Read the things in the chart below . Underline and translate important phrases.They will help Ss to guess what you will heard .Hear six things in the chart .
2. Play the recording the first time .Ss listen and check the six things they hear . Then check the answers: 1 2 4 5 6 7.
3. Listen again .Pay attention to the persons who did each thing in the chart above .Match the phrases with the persons . Check the answers: 1 e, 2 d, 4 a, 5 f, 6 c, 7 b.
4. Listen for the third time and fill in the blanks.

文中原句分别是:

3. While she was talking on the telephone, Davy met another dog outside the station.

读并试着翻译下列句子,点名画线词的意思和用法。

Step4:以填空的形式,让学生试着复述故事。
Step5: 4a Use these pictures to tell a story.
口头作文:每幅图画都标出提示的内容,比如第一幅标出的内容有:时间,地点,人物,交通方式。在老师的提示下,学生有据可依,完善故事,生生之间可互相补充。四幅图画一一进行。
Step6: 学生根据大家一起作的口头作文写成自己的文章。Writing time 大约需要5-6分钟。
