1.Teacher asks some questions about Sue’s problems to review what the students learned in the last lesson.

2.Milie is very worried these days because her penfriend in the USA hasn’t replied to her. She asks Amy for help. Let the students to listen to the conversation between Millie and Amy, and then answer the following questions:

⑵ What’s is her problem (Her penfriend hasn’t replied to her e-mails.)
⑶ Does Ann agree that Millie’s penfriend doesn’t want to write to her any more (No. )

Step Ⅲ. Practice.
1. Teacher plays the tape recorder again , let the students read after the tape, and then ask the students to act out.
2. Ask the students to talk about their own problems in groups of two and give advice .They can use the following expressions.

3. Ask several students to read their dialogues aloud to the class.
Step Ⅳ. Checking your work
1. Ask the students whether they have the habit of checking after they finish their work.. Encourage them to check their work in order to find and correct the mistakes made because of carelessness.
2 Common spelling and grammar mistakes, such as, word usage mistake, punctuation mistake, wrong tense, spelling mistake, missing word, etc.
3. Divide the students into groups of two and ask them to read and discuss the passage on P:56 for five minutes and try to find the mistakes and correct them.
4. Ask several students to find and check the mistakes and the whole class to read the passage together.
Step V. Exercise
1. The teacher present the following passage on the screen and ask the students to discuss and check the mistakes in groups of four. Tell which kind of mistake they are .

If you have a dog or a cat at home, you may have noticed how their come and sit on your lap, or brush up against you when you are feeling sad. They can sense your mood, and they even try to cheer you up,
In fact, owing a pet can be great for relieving stress. Pets are always hoppy to see you, and stroking their fur can be relaxing.
Some hospitals now has ‘pet days’, where dogs and cats are given to patients for a hour or two. The animals improve the mood of the patents. Doctors have noticed that patients who is happy recover more quickly.
2.Ask the fastest group to tell the class the mistakes, the others groups to complete and at last the whole class read the passage together.
Step VI:.Language points
(1) My penfriend in the USA hasn’t replied to my last three e-mails.
A. reply(过去式:_______; 现在分词:_______) “回答;答复”。一般作不及物动词,跟宾语时后面要加to.
Eg .I asked him where he was going but he didn’t reply.
Who can ______ ______ (回答) this question
B. reply还可以作名词,意为“回答,答复”。
Eg. Thank you very much for your reply.
▲ reply 与answer区别
answer 用法比较广泛,可指口说或笔写的答复,它是及物动词,可以带宾语。Reply指较正式的,经过考虑后的答复,它是不及物动词,不可以直接跟宾语。只有加上介词“to“后,才可以跟宾语。如:
1 I called ,but no one answered it.我给他打了电话,但没有人接。
2 Can you answer this question 你能回答这个问题吗?
3 I sent in my application ,and the university replied immediately.我把申请书送去,那所大学立即答复了。
(2) pleasure (n.) “乐趣,荣幸” ; pleased (adj.) “ 高兴,乐意” ; pleasant (adi.) “ 令人愉快,令人舒服的”
Eg. ---Thank you for giving me your advice.

(3) suffer from 受痛苦,受折磨
Eg. Many students suffer from stress.

(4) though “ 虽然,尽管” 引导让步状语从句,不能和but 连用,用法与although 一样。
