本单元重点谈论学校活动,其中“school”一词同学们一定很熟悉了吧。这个单词来自希腊语,原来意思是“空闲”。感到奇怪吗?难道说,在“school”里的日子是“空闲”的吗?
原来,对希腊人来说,昔日被雇用到战场上打仗或参加政治活动的人,总是忙忙碌碌,只有那些有空闲的人才会去学校读书,所以,学校被称为“空闲”(school)也不奇怪了。

顺延拓展,丰富文本
教材对话是一个真实而且贴近学生生活实际的场景。然而,从对话内容上看,交流的信息不够完整,也却少对话人物之间的情感交流。因此,教师邀请孩子们以课本为语言输入的支架,以表演和描述作为最终的语言输出活动。
在整个拓展过程中学生依托课文主情境,积极思考,大胆表达,达到了良好的语言输出效果。同时,在表演和描述对话的过程中也能感受到校园生活的快乐,情感得以升华。
语用实践
《英语课程标准(2011版)》明确指出:义务教育阶段英语课程的总目标是通过英语学习使学生形成初步的综合语言运用能力,促进心智发展,提高综合人文素养。创设尽可能真实的语境,把说话的机会留给学生,学生是主体,也是演员,要让他们学得轻松,说得灵活。
本节课教师将语用实践活动设计在最后的表演环节。请一学生表演在校的活动,其他学生用学过的语言进行描述。为了降低学生语言输出的难度,教师给出了一小部分语言支架。学生非常灵活,他们就地取材,即兴表演。
