Step1.过去分词作定语之用法过去分词作定语有前置和后置两种情况。 1、前置定语 单个的过去分词作定语,通常放在被修饰的名词之前,表示被动和完成意义。A类:被动意义:an honored guest 一位受尊敬的客人The injured workers are now being taken good care of in the hospital.B类:完成意义:a retired teacher 一位退休的教师They are cleaning the fallen leaves in the yard.2、后置定语过去分词短语作定语时,通常放在被修饰的名词之后,它的作用相当于一个定语从句。如:This will be the best novel of its kind ever written (=that has ever been written).Who were the so-called guests invited (=who had been invited) to your party last night Step2..过去分词作状语之用法一.过去分词作状语,一般情况下就相当于状语从句1.The teacher came into classroom into the classroom, followed by some students2.Seen from the hill ,the town looks very beautiful.3.Born in a rich family, he lived a simple life.4.Given more time and money, we would have done the work better二.过去分词可以作时间,原因,条件,让步,方式或伴随状语。1.Lost in the forest ,you should first of all remain where you were_____ 2.Encouraged by the progress he has made, he works harder__________3.Given more time and money, we would have done the work better .___4.United, we stand; divided, we fall. ___________________________5.Faced with a lot of difficulties ,he continued the plan. ______________6.He stands there, hands tied on his back________________________过去分词(短语)作状语时,也可在前面加上when , if, while, though等连词,以便明确是作何种状语。如: (1) Once discovered, mistakes should be corrected. (=As soon as mistakes are discovered, they should be corrected.) 一旦发现错误应及时纠正。 (2) Their factory won’t go bankrupt, if better managed. 如果经营较好,他们厂就不会破产。 (3) Even if invited, I won’t go to his party. 即使被邀请,我也不去参加他的聚会。 三.思考现在分词作状语时和分词和主句主语之间的关系注:但如果过去分词短语作状语的逻辑主语必须与句子的主语不一致,就要用独立主格结构。 1) He rushed into the room, his face covered with sweat. 2) A new technique worked out(= ), the yields as a whole increased by 28%. 3) His foot badly hurt (= ) , he had to stay in bed. 4) Everything taken into consideration(= ) , your proposal is more reasonable.Step3.过去分词作表语作表语的过去分词主要来自及物动词,在主-系-表句型中,说明主语所处的一种状态。其中系动词有包括be在内的多种形式。如:You seem frightened.少数不及物动词(如go, come, set)的过去分词也能作表语,但它们不表示被动意义,只是表示动作完成。如:They are gone for vacation.注意:要区别“系动词+过去分词(系表结构)” 和 “系动词+过去分词(被动语态)”。如:A. The library is now closed.图书馆现在关门了B. The library is closed at six.图书馆经常在六点钟关门。Step4过去分词作宾补的用法过去分词( (多为及物动词)在某些动词后可作宾语补足语,宾语与过注:但如果过去分词短语作状语的逻辑主语必须与句子的主语不一致,就要用独立主格结构。 1) He rushed into the room, his face covered with sweat. 2) A new technique worked out(= ), the yields as a whole increased by 28%. 3) His foot badly hurt (= ) , he had to stay in bed. 4) Everything taken into consideration(= ) , your proposal is more reasonable.
