1. 辨析：when 与what time
when是疑问副词，意为“什么时候”；“何时”，询问某年、某月或某日大范围的时间时，一般用when。如：
—When do you play football 你什么时候踢足球？
[请翻译]: 我下午踢足球。

what time意为“什么时间”；“几点了”，问的是具体的时间，常对时刻、钟点进行提问。如：
—What time is it now 现在几点了？
—It’s eight o’clock.八点。

当表示询问做某事的时间时，两者可互换。如：
—What time (When)do you usually go to school
你通常什么时候上学？
—I usually go to school at eight o’clock. 我通常八点钟上学。
2.日期表达法
英语中日期的表达通常先说月，再说日，最后说年。
如：August 8th, 2008 =2008年8月8号。
[注意]：英语中的“日” 用序数词表示，书写时定冠词the可以省略，序数词的词尾“th”也可以省略，但读时一定要读成序数词。如：May 4/4th 读做：May forth or May the forth。英语中的“年”用基数词表示，读年份时可将前两位数字为一个单元，后两个数字为一个单元。如：1996读做nineteen ninety-six，而2008通常读做two thousand(千)and eight。
