Before the lesson, the students enjoy listening to the song “Love is color-blind”.
Step 1: Warm up and lead-in
Warm up
T: Good afternoon, guys. Are you ready for the lesson? Ss: Yes.
T: Look at the blackboard, here is a word “plermob”, can you read it?
(Ask 2or 3 Ss to read it.)
T: Do you know the word? Ss: No, we don’t.
T: I don’t know either, because it’s a wrong word. But if we put the letters in different order, we can get the right word. Try.

Step 2: Predict
1. Read the title and the picture, what do you think we will talk about today?
( Raise Ss’ ideas. Ss: advice/problems…)
Yes, so if you have some problems, you can write a letter to Hannah. She will give you some advice. Look, here is one.
2. Read the beginning of the letter and think what will happen next?
(Ask a S to read out the beginning of the letter)
(Ss can share the ideas with their partner, then ask some to share.)

T: Now read the letter on the left quickly (The letter is from Sang-mi) and find out what will really happen.

Step 4: Read
1. Read Sang-mi’s letter more carefully and answer:
(1) Why is Sang-mi so sad? (Get Ss to underline the sentence from the passage.)
(2) What did Sang-mi write the letter for? (She wrote it for ______.)
2. Memory Challenge (Word work)
Ss cover the letter and fill in the blanks, see how much they know about Sang-mi.

5. Read Hannah’s letter and circle the key words of her advice.

My advice: On one hand, you can help her to do better than you. On the other hand, you need to try your best to be better than her, so that you both can better yourselves

课后反思:
2009年4月21日到4月24日,这四天,我全身心投入了省英语课堂教学评比的备战与参赛过程,尽管没有取得理想的成绩,但在这个过程中,我收获很多。
认真反思,主要有以下问题:
本节课主要是把英语阅读策略和技能中的prediction通过具体阅读文章体现出来,旨在培养学生的阅读能力和阅读技能,并在学习的过程中进行自我训练获取信息,处理信息的能力。但在实际的过程中,我对prediction的策略指导做得不到位。
给完全陌生的学生上课是对授课老师的一种挑战,如何能准确估计学生的已有水平很是关键。由于自己对学生的估计过于保守,致使设计的问题对这班学生过于简单,没有挑战性。
3、上课的收效良好与否,教师的“引导”作用尤其重要,它不仅仅是体现在课堂上,更体现在教学设计的全过程。可我本人在教学过程设计中不够大胆,创新不够。
4、科学的板书是整堂课的归纳体现。可我的板书很随意,并与原先预设的有出入。
5、对学生的评价语比较单一,教师评价语的有效性与多样化体现不够。
在今后的教学中我要不断努力,特别要加强以下几方面: 1、强化语音语调的训练,多听音模仿;加强语言综合运用能力,提高自己的英语专业素养。2、深入教材的理解,教学目标的定位要更加准确。
3、加强板书设计,使板书真正具有科学性。
通过这次课堂教学的评比与反思,让我对自己平时的教育理念和教学活动进行了更多的反思。希望在反思中进步,在反思中成长。
