B
When
I
was
in
college,
one
of
my
professors
told
me,
“Kids
don’t
care
about
how
much
you
know
until
they
know
how
much
you
care.”
This
has
always
been
with
me,
and
the
longer
I
teach,
the
more
I
agree
with
him.
I’ve
learned
that
many
times
what
my
students
need
most
is
to
know
that
they
are
loved,
and
that
someone
cares
about
them
and
believes
in
them.
When
this
happens,
they
feel
safe
to
take
risks
and
make
mistakes.
I
always
tell
my
students,
“It’s
OK
to
make
mistakes.
That’s
how
we
learn.”
Then,
progress
starts
to
happen,
their
confidence
begins
to
grow,
and
they
start
believing
in
themselves.
Over
the
years,
I
have
received
many
gifts
from
my
students
and
their
families.
Most
of
them
are
handwritten
“thank-you”
notes.
These
simple
notes
are
so
meaningful.
I
have
saved
these
notes
over
the
years
and
have
often
taken
them
out
to
re-read
them,
especially
on
those
challenging
days
when
I
need
some
encouragement.
My
most
unforgettable
gift
came
from
a
student
four
years
ago.
She
came
in
one
morning
with
a
huge
smile
on
her
face
and
gave
me
an
apple
and
a
pen
(that
didn’t
work)
with
a
hair
tie
wrapped
(包裹)
around
it.
That
was
my
most
memorable
gift,
because
it
broke
my
heart
and
encouraged
me
at
the
same
time.
Why
Because
she
didn’t
have
much,
but
she
gave
me
what
she
had,
and
she
did
it
happily!
She
knew
that
I
cared
about
her,
and
in
return,
she
wanted
to
find
a
way
to
show
that
she
cared
about
me.
This
gift
reminded
(提醒)
me
that
the
most
important
part
of
teaching
is
not
found
in
any
lesson
plan,
but
it’s
helping
our
students
understand
that
they
are
loved.
Our
lessons
become
meaningful
when
students
realize
their
lives
have
meaning.
And
that
is
why
teaching
can
be
so
challenging
and
so
meaningful.
5.

she
didn’t
really

very
challenging.

Teachers
should
make
their
students

C
When
you
speak
English
with
the
Irish
people
in
Ireland,
you
may
find
sometimes
what
they
are
saying
is
confusing.
Here
are
some
key
pieces
of
vocabulary
for
any
English
speakers
that
find
themselves
learning
English
as
a
foreign
language
in
Ireland.
The
Lads
A
“lad”
in
Oxford
Advanced
Learner’s
Dictionary
means
“a
boy
or
a
young
man”,“a
lively
young
man,
especially
one
who
is
very
interested
in
women”
or
“a
person
who
works
in
a
stable
(马厩)”.
And
some
men
call
their
male
(男性的)
friends
or
coworkers
“the
lads”.
However,Li
Ireland,
people
use
“lads”
to
mean
any
type
of
people.
Your
nephew
and
your
aunt
are
also
“the
lads”.
The
Conditional
Tense
The
Irish
people
use
the
conditional
tense
frequently,
but
sometimes
it
seems
misleading
and
unnecessary.
The
comment
“He
would
be
a
good
friend
of
mine.”
leaves
you
thinking
that
something
has
happened.
He
would
have
been
a
good
friend
of
yours
if
he
hadn’t
burnt
your
house
down,
hadn’t
stolen
your
car
...
But
no,
it
just
means
that
he
is
a
good
friend.
No
conditional
meaning
is
given.
Your
Man
The
Irish
people
like
calling
people
in
conversations
as
“your
man”,which
is
actually
quite
nice,
compared
with
the
more
distant
“that
guy”
that
we
used
to
use.
If
you
are
told
that
a
man
you
have
met
once
is
“your
man”,
you
will
be
very
surprised
the
first
time
you
hear
it.
Ye
“Ye”
did
not
die
with
Shakespeare.
The
Irish
people
still
use
this
form
of
“you”.
“Ye”,as
the
plural
form
of
“you”,is
still
used
in
many
parts
of
Ireland.
Yeah
The
Irish
people
often
respond
(作出反应)
to
what
someone
is
saying
to
them.
This
might
be
done
with
a
nod,
making
a
sound,saying
“yes”,
saying
“oh”,etc.
“Yeah”
is
commonly
used
in
this
way,
and
then
there
is
a
special
“yeah”
that
is
said
while
taking
a
breath.
9.
What
can
we
know
about
the
Irish
people
A.
They
like
using
the
conditional
tense.
B.
They
often
use
grammar
in
a
wrong
way.
C.
They
like
using
the
word
“guy”
to
mean
osiers.
D.
They
like
telling
others
if
something
bad
happens.
10.
What
does
the
author
mean
by
saying
did
not
die
with
Shakespeare.”?
A.
Shakespeare
made
“ye”
popular.
B.
Shakespeare
didn’t
use
“ye”.
C.
“Ye”
is
used
widely
in
Ireland.
D.
“Ye”
is
still
used
today.
11.
What
can
we
learn
about
the
Irish
people
in
the
last
paragraph
A.
They’re
good
listeners.
B.
They
hardly
use
body
language.
C.
They
like
taking
a
breath
before
speaking.
D.
They
like
repeating
the
word
“yeah”.
D
Study
hard.
Get
plenty
of
sleep.
Eat
a
good
breakfast.
Each
of
these
things
can
help
students
do
their
best
on
exams.
Now
scientists
say
another
thing
might
also
influence
students’
test
scores.
Students
in
stuffier
(通风不畅的)
classrooms
did
worse
on
tests
than
students
in
buildings
with
fresher
air,
new
research
found.
Opening
windows
can
help
provide
fresh
air.
Some
buildings
also
use
fans
to
bring
in
outdoor
air.
Each
time
someone
breathes,
he
or
she
breathes
out
CO2.
When
rooms
are
stuffy,
the
level
of
C02
in
those
rooms
can
build
up.
A
2012
study
showed
that
college
students
had
more
difficulty
being
concentrated
on
their
learning
when
indoor
CO2
levels
were
high.
And
other
research
has
found
that
elementary
school
students
in
stuffier
classrooms
stayed
homesick
more
often.
In
a
different
study,
researchers
examined
the
air
quality
in
100
fifth-grade
classrooms.
They
found
that
in
most
classrooms,
the
air
quality
did
not
meet
the
standards.
That
research
also
showed
that
students
who
got
to
breathe
the
fresher
air
in
school
per-formed
better
on
their
tests.
These
same
research
groups
now
find
that
better
air
is
connected
with
better
test
scores,
too.
As
part
of
the
research,
Ulla
Haverinen-Shaughnessy
and
Richard
Shaughnessy
measured
CO2
levels
inside
and
out
of
140
fifth-grade
classrooms
at
70
schools.
The
CO2
levels
helped
them
know
how
much
fresh
air
was
running
through
each
classroom.
The
quality
of
indoor
air
in
each
classroom
was
then
compared
to
its
students’
scores
on
a
math
test.
Overall,
the
average
score
for
this
test
was
2,286
points.
But
kids
in
classrooms
with
the
best
air
quality
scored
about
144
points
higher
than
students
breathing
the
stuffiest
indoor
air.
The
study
shows
that
air
quality
and
test
scores
are
really
connected,
but
the
influence
is
small.
12.
The
findings
of
the
new
research
mainly
show
the
importance
of
_________.
A.
hard
work
B.
enough
sleep
C.
fresh
air
D.
healthy
eating
13.
What
did
the
author
want
to
show
by
mentioning
a
2012
study
A.
Most
college
students
had
to
study
in
stuffy
classrooms.
B.
High
indoor
CO2
levels
do
no
good
to
students’
health.
C.
College
students
have
difficulty
studying
stuffy
classrooms.
D.
High
indoor
CO2
levels
do
no
good
to
college
students’
study.
14.
What
did
the
researchers
find
after
examining
the
air
quality
in
100
fifth-grade
classrooms
A.
There
were
too
many
students
in
one
class,
B.
Most
of
the
classrooms
had
poor
air
quality.
C.
Most
of
the
students
cared
about
indoor
air
quality.
D.
The
air
quality
in
those
classrooms
met
the
standards.
15.
What
is
the
main
idea
of
the
passage
A.
Many
classrooms
don’t
have
fresh
air.
B.
Stuffy
classrooms
lead
to
many
problems.
C.
Stuffy
classrooms
may
cause
low
test
scores.
D.
Dirty
classrooms
may
cause
students,poor
performance.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。
Homework
gets
you
down
16
The
advice
below
can
help
you
make
good
preparations
for
your
homework,
so
you
can
finish
your
homework
more
effectively
(有效地).
Find
a
quiet
place
to
do
your
homework.
It
can
be
pretty
hard
to
finish
your
homework
in
the
living
room
while
your
brother
plays
games.
Try
to
find
a
quiet
place
where
you’ll
be
able
to
study
in
peace
and
concentrate
on
what
you
need
to
do.
17
If
you
can’t
find
a
quiet
place
in
your
house,
or
you
don’t
have
your
own
room,
try
staying
after
school
to
finish
your
homework.
18
Before
you
get
started,
make
sure
you
prepare
all
the
right
materials,putting
them
on
your
desk.
If
you
have
everything
you’ll
need,
you’ll
be
able
to
concentrate
on
what
you’re
doing,
not
where
your
eraser
or
dictionary
is,
or
where
you
need
to
find
your
notes.
Tidiness
(整洁)
is
important,
so
clean
the
mess
before
you
study.
Write
a
to-do
list
for
your
homework.
19
Even
if
you
have
a
school
planner,
it’s
good
to
have
a
clear
list
in
front
of
you
at
home
before
you
start
so
that
you
can
check
things
off
as
you
work.
Make
a
schedule
(计划表).Without
a
plan,
it
can
sometimes
be
pretty
hard
to
stay
on
task.
20
For
example,
science
homework
will
be
done
from
4:00-5:00,
and
then
math
work
will
be
finished
from
5:00-6:00.
This
will
help
you
stay
on
route
so
that
you’re
not
going
away
from
your
work.
A.
Get
everything
you’ll
need
to
finish
your
homework.
B.
If
so,
you
need
to
learn
to
how
to
prepare
for
homework.
C.
Try
setting
a
certain
block
of
time
for
each
thing
you
need
to
finish.
D.
Turn
off
the
computer,
TV,
or
anything
that
will
make
you
unable
to
focus.
E.
Your
room
is
often
the
best,
but
any
place
like
the
kitchen
table
can
also
work.
F.
Make
sure
the
place
where
you
are
studying
is
at
a
comfortable
temperature.
G.
Before
you
start,
write
everything
that
you
need
to
do
to
finish
your
homework
in
a
list.

we

his

Then
the

ran
in
a

at
the
store.
His
eyes
opened
wide
and
moved
from

32,
all
of
the

looked
so
good
that
he
still
didn’t

and
then
they

was
so
upset
that
he
35.
He
wanted
all
the
candies,
but
he
ended

Some
of
us
are
like
that
boy.
The
world
is
like
that
candy
store.
We
have
a
great
number
of
37.
But
