Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving Day in the United States started as a way of giving thanks to food gathered from a good h________ or problems that were solved. It is now a holiday celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November to express thanks to God for health, and a good year. In the United States Thanksgiving Day is most closely connected with the earliest history of the country.
Its o_______ can date back to the 17th century. In 1620,the settlers,or Pilgrims,sailed to America on the May flower,seeking a place where they could get the rights of freedom. In cold November, after a two-month voyage, they landed at ____ is now Plymouth, Massachusetts. During their first winter, over half of the settlers died of starvation or diseases. Those who survived began sowing and growing crops in the first spring.
