Living in a culture that is different from your own can be exciting. You have to learn different cultural practices. The following are some cultural differences between China and the US.
Privacy (隐私): Chinese people do not have the same opinion of privacy as Americans do. They talk about topics such as ages and income (收入), which Americans think is not polite.
Family: In China, children often live with their parents even after they become adults. However, in America, parents often encourage their children to be independent. So people over 18 years old are
always required to move out to live by themselves in America.
Friends: In China, just hanging out together from time to time is not friendship. Friendship means the relationship with lifelong friends. Americans always call people they meet friends. There are work
friends, playing friends, school friends and drinking friends.
Money: As is well known, Chinese like to save. Chinese are always conservative (保守的) when they spend money. It is different in the US, where fewer families are saving money. On the contrary (正 相反), they like “spending now and paying later”.

Known for their unusual long wings, albatrosses are seabirds. Their wings can measure 3.5 metres, making them ?y with ease. In fact, albatrosses need more energy to take off or land, but not for actual ?ying. Most of their life is spent on the sea, in search of food like fish and other small sea creatures. They return to land mainly for giving birth to babies, and they prefer the same place every time. These birds lay one egg a year.
Wisdom was first tagged (标记) in 1956 at Midway Atoll in the North Pacific Ocean by Dr. Chandler
Robbins, a scientist. Then she returned to the wild. In 2002, Robbins saw her in the same place again. He began to trace (追踪) her. In 2006, US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) emailed Robbins to ask for information of the birds he had tagged. Later, Wisdom was known by more people and some volunteers gave her the name—Wisdom.【来源:21cnj*y.co*m】
When Wisdom was first tagged, scientists guessed she was at least 5. Sixty years have passed. Today, Wisdom became the oldest known wild albatross in the world.

The first medical group to get a business license (执照) in China has begun to accept patients in May in Luohu District, Shenzhen. The group, called Best uniMed, has a new type of medical service operation. It helps licensed doctors work at multiple medical institutions, and is regarded as an important step in Shenzhen’s medical reform (改革) to attract more well-known doctors to come to the city.
Luohu District People’s Hospital offers medical facilities as well as part of its VIP medical centre as the working location for the group.
Although it operates from Luohu District People’s Hospital, it’s completely different from public hospitals in terms of business model, said Luo Lexuan, director of Shenzhen’s Health Commission. “It’s market-oriented, including its operation, management and charge,” said Luo. “There is a lack of medical services in Shenzhen. We hope this new type of medical service can bring more medical resources to the city and better service for residents.”
Medical groups have mushroomed in China since last year after the country began medical reform. Roughly 20 medical groups were set up in the first half of last year. But they all operate as management companies, which can collect more medical resources, including doctors. They were not allowed to offer medical services. Best uniMed is the first to have got the green light to offer medical services in China.
“It’s a breakthrough in China’s medical reform,” said Lin Feng, another founder and chairman of Best uniMed. “We, as a medical group, can offer medical services to individuals. That means a new type of medical business model has come into being.”
