Teaching aims:
Knowledge and ability objects
To enable students to use vocabulary about earthquakes such as fall down, survive, survivor, ruins etc.
To enable students to talk about what happened in earthquakes.
Process and methods
To cultivate students’ interest in speaking and presenting.
To develop students’ speaking, reading and writing ability.
Emotion、attitudes and values
To encourage students to believe in love and hope.
To instruct students to cherish life.
Teaching method: group work, situational teaching method, making presentation
Teaching difficulties:
To encourage students to find more information and describe the pictures about earthquakes.
To inspire students to imagine about the rescuing work and write them down.
Teaching Procedures:
Step1 Lead in
Step2 Speaking
Students are divided into six groups. Each group is supposed to discuss about a picture and tell a story behind it.
Step3 Reading
Ask students to read the letter of invitation and get understanding of the text.
Step4 Writing and Speaking(presentation)
Ask students to write a passage in which students serve as survivors to recall the moving moments in the disaster, express thanks to rescuers and then give the speech.
