Analysis of the teaching materials
Altogether there are six journal entries in JOURNEY DOWN THE MEKONG which are presented chronologically. The dream and the plan is the first part of the journal which describes what happened before the bike trip. It gives students the background information about the bike trip, This section also introduces students to many of the geographical terms.
Analysis of the students
Students are interested in traveling .However, they have little idea of how they will really do it if given the chance. By learning the unit , students will know how to prepare for a trip.

Knowledge aims: students will know many geographical terms and learn about the purpose of the journal
Ability aims:
1)Student are able to find the detailed information they need .
2)Students are able to guess new words according to the context.
3)Students are able to learn to summarize the main idea .

5)Students are able to make up a conversation based on the reading material.
