An Adventure in Summer
I’ve just come back from my first outdoor adventure. My brother and I went hiking with my dog Ralph. I found that my brother was actually pretty fun to be around. We packed our fishing rods and drove to a lake about an hour outside of the city. We didn’t end up catching any fish, but we both were bitten about 500 times by mosquitoes. We brought my dog, Ralph, as well. He was very happy to come because he usually spends most of the day running around the yard and doesn’t travel to many places. But I don’t think Ralph ended up having too much fun. While we were busy fighting off mosquitoes, Ralph got into a confrontation with a skunk. We didn’t see the skunk but he certainly left a mark on my poor dog, which meant a terrible smell. I washed Ralph pretty well when we got home, but he was still smelly. My dad was upset because his car smelled like a skunk, so I don’t think he’ll be letting my brother borrow the car again anytime soon. And I don’t think Ralph will be keen to join me on any future adventures. How’s your summer been going Had any cool adventures or embarrassing things happened Let me know.
Notes:1. rod n.杆,棒2. mosquito n.蚊子3. fight off 抵抗,击退4. confrontation n.对抗,冲突5. skunk n.臭鼬6. keen adj.热衷的7. embarrassing adj.令人尴尬的
