such as, for example和for instance都可表示"例如,比如,诸如……之类的"意思,但三者在用法上存在差别。such as只能列举并列的部分事物,即不能是全部,所列举的事物为名词,置于被列举的事物与前面的名词之间,as 后面切不可有逗号。for example用来举例说明某一论点或情况,在句中的位置比较灵活,一般作插入语用,所举的例子可以是名词,也可以是短语或句子。for instance用法同for example, 两者可替换。例如:
Boys such as John and James are friendly and polite to the elderly.
There are many similar words in many languages, for example in French and Italian.
For example, in a car factory, the robot changed its work just as a human would do.
Many great men have risen from poverty—Lincoln, for example.

relate 的派生词是related,用作形容词,构成的词组有be related to, 意思是"相关的,有联系的"。relation是relate的派生名词,与之构成的常用词组有:relations between A and B (事物之间的) 关系,关联,联系；in relation to与……相比(即compare with)；关于(相当于concerning)。如:
We seek to improve the relations between the two countries.

This board may be used as a blackboard.
The blue files are used for storing documents.
Chalk is used to write words on the blackboard.
