After my friends left, I walked from room to room, still crying for their gift of time and work. I found beautiful flowers in every room and little wrapped gifts on each bed. I couldn’t stop crying. In the living room I found a note under a vase. I was to have come home and found it as their only name: "The Love Team was here."

With all the food that was flying today, I’m still a little worried about getting hit in the head with a piece of meat or something. You just would not believe the crazy food fight that happened at lunch. It was pretty unbelievable.
Now, I should probably explain that I was kind of the one to start the fight. I know ... I’m not the fighting type, but I just had to do it. A.J. walked into the cafeteria with her new group of friends and she looked at me in an angry way. Then she and her group of friends started whispering and pointing in my direction, laughing the whole time.
Well, I was kind of tired of her treating me like garbage, so I took a piece of cheese from my lunch dish and threw it at her head! It hit her right in the face, which did not make her very happy. Before I knew it, there was milk being poured on my head and the whole cafeteria seemed to blow up in disorder.
Both A.J. and I were pulled into the headteacher’s office. He called both our parents and sent us home for the rest of the day. I was so worried about what my mom was going to do, but she was pretty cool about the whole thing. She said that maybe A.J. and I actually missed being friends with one another and we weren’t able to figure out how to tell one another. I’m pretty sure throwing cheese at her face was the wrong move.
Anyway, I’m not really supposed to be on the computer. I should be doing my homework right now.21世纪教育网

80. That’s the magic number of days until winter vacation starts. It also happens to be the mark I need to get on my next science test if I’m going to avoid showing my parents a shiny "D"on my fall report card. If you haven’t figured it out yet —my school year hasn’t had the best start. I’ve been spending more time sitting in detention than skateboarding and even more time arguing with my parents about why they keep getting phone calls from the principal.
The latest phone call came after my friend Ben and I used our science text books and a food tray to build a skateramp in the cafeteria. We had a lot of fun, but we were only able to use it for about 5 minutes before one of the hall monitors told a teacher who sent us right to the principal. He gave us both detentions for a week and took my skateboard! It was terrible!
My parents then grounded me for a week and cancelled my pocket money for a month. I tried to tell them that this because of my dyslexia, but they didn’t believe me. They just got even madder. Anyway, I’d better go use my science textbook for something other than a skate ramp. I’m guessing a "D"on next month’s report card won’t be looked upon too favorably.

一. 过去完成进行时由"had been doing"构成,表示过去某一时刻之前开始的动作或状态一直延续到过去某一时刻。如:

二. 注意区别过去完成进行时与过去进
行时:过去进行时一般是表示在过去某一时刻或某段时间正在进行的动作,它的基本形式是was/were doing。如:

Wow! I cannot believe Simon got caught cheating! I know he complains a lot about school and having to do his homework but not in a million years did I expect him to cheat. That is so huge. 21世纪教育网
Cheating is something that can follow you all the way through school! Teachers will know for many years that he’s the kid who copied his Midsummer Night’s Dreames say from someone else and they’ll always have doubts about him. Well, I hope forhissake everything will be forgotten,but it looks as if he’s going to have to suffer through a pretty hard punishment for now.
I can’t say I’ve never thought about cheating before. There are lots of different ways that you could cheat if you really wanted to, but I wouldn’t dare to do it. I would never want to get caught. It would be so embarrassing and my mom would probably lock me in my room for at least a year. It’s so not worth it!
I e-mailed Simon the other day and told him if he needed to talk that I was here. I wish he’d have told me that he was having trouble with school. I could have helped him with it. I just hope he feels comfortable asking me for help next time he feels that cheating is his only choice!

Opening it, the teacher careful-ly removed two worn pieces of notebook paper that had obviously been taped, folded and refolded many times. She knew without looking that the papers were the ones on which she had listed all of the good things that each of Mark’s classmates had said about him.
"Thank you so much for doing that,"Mark’s mother said. "As you can see, Mark treasured it."All of Mark’s former classmates started to gather around. Then Charlie smiled and said, "I still have my list. It’s in the top drawer of my desk at home."
Chuck’s wife said, "Chuck asked me to put his in our wedding album.""I have mine too,"Marilyn said. "It’s in my diary."Then Vicki, another classmate, reached into her bag, took out her wallet, and showed her worn list to the group. "I carry this with me every day,"Vicki said. That was when the teacher finally sat down and cried. She cried for Mark and for all of his friends who would never see him again. We are so busy with our lives every day that we forget that life will end one day. Ugh! Back to school and back to homework. Even with two weeks off I still don’t feel like I’ve had a long enough break. Simon says that I should stop complaining so much because at least it’s not as cold in California as it is here. I guess he has kind of a point.
I gave Simon a call on New Year’s Day because one of my New Year’s resolutions was to try harder to keep in touch with my friends. I know we live kind of far apart but it’s not like we can’t pick up a phone once in a while. He agreed that we should start paying more attention to what’s going on in each other’s life. I totally forgot that it was his mom’s birthday a few weeks ago and I used to get her a card or a present. I feel really stupid. We’re going to plan to visit each other soon. Maybe we can do it during the spring break. We have no idea about what we’re going to do, but at least we’re thinking about it.
I’m usually not very good at keeping resolutions, but this year just seemed like the one to make some real goals. I’m going to try and stop blaming Amy so much (this one is going to be the hardest!), try a little harder in gym class and take up a new hobby. I still haven’t decided what my hobby is going to be, but I figured that I would try out a few in January before I decided on one. I’m thinking about doing something artistic like pottery or maybe doing yoga. We’ll see.

I am so glad that school is over tomorrow! I have had too much homework lately. My teachers are handing out essays and projects and books to read. It’s crazy!
I do have a few things to do over the break but for the most part I’m just going to stay at home and relax, and get my Christmas shopping done. The malls are probably going to be crazy but I still haven’t gotten my parents anything! Hopefully they have some cheap socks or something —a great dad gift!
Amy has been asking me to take her to see Santa next week too. My mom will be at work for most of the holiday so I guess I’ll take her. She can make me really angry but I always loved seeing Santa when I was a kid so she should get to go too.
What are you guys going to be doing during your break Are any of you going away on vacation or visiting family My cousin arrives next Wednesday, which will be a lot of fun. Maybe she’ll drive us to different places and buy us things. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I can’t believe that Christmas is already over! That went by fast, didn’t it Before I knew it, all the presents under the tree had been unwrapped, we’d eaten a whole turkey and the whole family had gone back home.
I got some pretty nice presents, though. I know that’s not what Christmas is all about but it certainly doesn’t hurt! My parents put aside their differences and got me a new MP3 player. I got a red one and it’s really nice. I spent the whole afternoon filling it up with all of my favorite songs. Maybe I’ll take it to class with me when school starts again. Then I can enjoy the music after class.
So what are all of you doing for New Year’s Eve Are you going to wait for the new year with your family or will you go to a big party I love to run outside at midnight. It’s the time of the year that it’s acceptable to be really noisy in the middle of the night! Let me know what your plans are.

Since I last blogged, I’ve been working on putting my camp counselor plan into action! I’ve worked on my resume and added all my new work experience to it. I decided to start applying for jobs.
My online friend Emma suggested that I start by working at a day camp. I’m not sure yet. I kind of like the idea of heading away for the summer —taking a break from my family and my always-too-busy boyfriend. I just think what I need right now is to meet new people and try new things.
I’m thinking of applying at camps that are far away from everything. I’d love to spend my summer on a mountain lake, teaching kids to swim and singing around the campfire every night! I am still a little young to be a full-fledged camp counselor, but there are always junior counselor positions that don’t require as much responsibility (which is fine by me!).
My mom isn’t too happy about me going away for two whole months, but I think she’ll get over it. I promised her that I’d write home regularly. And if she really wants, she and father can come and visit on Parents’Day. They could have a really interesting and fun trip! If I’m off at camp for the whole summer, though, I don’t know if I’ll get a chance to see my friend Simon at all. I guess I should talk to him and see what his summer plans are.

Something about my child’s excitement caught my attention, and I realized that I had never finger-painted with Kayla. I didn’t like the mess. As a result, my child had learned about color from a blind friend. This made me think carefully about my child and myself.
Then Kayla said, "Michelle told me that my picture showed joy and pride. She really saw what I was doing!"Kayla said that she didn’t know how good finger paints felt until Michelle showed her how to paint without looking at the paper.
That’s when I realized that Kayla didn’t know that Michelle was blind. They had never talked about it.
When I told her that Michelle was blind, she was quiet for a moment. At first, she didn’t believe me. "But Mommy, Michelle understood what was in my picture!"Kayla insisted. I knew my child was right because Michelle had listened to Kayla describe her artwork. Michelle had also heard the pride in Kayla’s voice, her wonder at her discovery of the way colors mix together, and her delight when she squeezed paint through her fingers.
We were quiet for a minute. Then Kayla said slowly, "You know, Mommy, Michelle really did 'see’my picture. She just used my eyes."
I’ve never heard anyone say that Michelle has a handicap. She doesn’t. She has a special kind of "vision"that all mothers could use.

When I was a kid, I would sit and watch Disney’s Alice in Wonderland over and over again. I loved the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire cat and the white rabbit. But little did I know, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was ten times better! Alice meets all kinds of other great characters that aren’t in the Disney movie.
Believe it or not, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was written in 1865, well before Walt Disney was even born, and the story has only gotten better with time.
From the second that Alice saw the white rabbit and went running after him, I was captivated*. Even though I knew most of the story, it didn’t take away from the excitement of Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole or waiting Alice in Wonderland to see if she would shrink or grow from drinking the mysterious liquid in the bottle marked "Drink Me".
Each time I finished a chapter, I had to read the next to see who Alice would meet next. Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland is almost a collection of short stories with a new setting and a new set of characters in every chapter. However, Alice’s adventures eventually bring all the characters together at the very end of the book in the Queen’s court.
Everyone should read Alice’Adventures in Wonderland at least once in their life. No matter what year it is or how old you are, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland will never become dull. Lewis Carroll also wrote Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There six years after Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Christmas break flew by really fast. I can’t believe I’ve already been back in school for like two weeks! It’s been a little strange because A.J. made some new friends over the break, and she’s been spending a lot of time with them, completely ignoring me. I honestly don’t think we are going to be able to be friends again.
I’m kind of sorry about losing A.J. because we had a lot of good times together, but I don’t think that I should apologize to her for something I didn’t do. I didn’t realize it was a crime against friendship to hang out with other people. But, apparently that’s the way A.J. feels and I don’t think anything I say is going to change her mind.
I think I’m going to go shopping after school with Anna. Whenever I’m feeling sad or angry, shopping makes me feel much better. My mom says it’s not cool to try and make yourself feel better by buying lots of things, but sometimes a new sweater is all I need to get back to feeling good!
I should probably be updating my wardrobe* now that I’m back at school anyway. I don’t want to be caught wearing the same old thing every day. Maybe I’ll go to Style Street and get some ideas of what I should look for. [来源:21世纪教育网]

Ida Tarbell was one of the first investigative reporters. She and other journalists wrote about the political, economic, and social problems in the early 1900s. President Theodore Roosevelt gave these writers the name "muckraker". Ida Tarbell accepted the name as a mark of honor. She carefully researched her subjects and proved her findings.
After graduating from Allegheny College, Ida Tarbell became the head of a private school, where she also taught eight subjects. When her contract ended, she began writing magazine and newspaper articles, and books. She wrote biographies of Manon Roland (a leader of the French Revolution), Napoleon Bonaparte, and Abraham Lincoln. Her most famous works, however, was The History of the Standard Oil Company, showing the unlawful business practices of the oil industry.
When she began investigating the Standard Oil Company, she expected that her findings would fill about three articles. The first part appeared in McChure’s Magazine in November 1902. By the time she finished her investigation, she had written eighteen articles, the last of which appeared in October 1904. The articles were later combined into a two-volume book of 554 pages. Her research was done very carefully. She wrote about the company’s power and the ill practices it followed to become powerful. Because of her findings, the movement to end the powerful monopolies was greatly strengthened. In 1911, the Supreme Court of the United States won its case to break the Standard Oil Company’s monopoly.

I just got back from camping with my mom and sister. We had a really good time. I couldn’t have imagined spending a whole week in the wilderness with those two, but it was. Roasting marshmallows, telling ghost stories and swimming in the lake —what more could you want
I think my favorite part about going camping was just sitting back and relax-ing in peace and quiet, and reading a good book. It’s so hard to find real time alone when you’re at home, so I love it when I got to just relax in the woods with nothing but the sounds of birds and the water touching the shore.
It is a little depressing now that our trip is over because it means that school is just a week away. I’ve never really been afraid of heading back to school, but this summer has just been so good. I don’t want it to end! I still have a job at the restaurant and, once school starts, I am going to try to continue working there for at least one or two days a week.

I’ve decided I’m going to be the next Jackie Chan, so I’ve started taking karate lessons. It was actually my mom’s idea. She said I spend too much time playing video games and hanging out at the mall, and wanted me to do something more meaningful.
What’s not productive about getting high scores in a game and looking at people at the mall It’s better than hanging out at the library all day or spending all afternoon smoking cigarettes outside. But karate’s cool, and my mom’s paying for it, and it’ll mean that I’ll be able to break boards with my hands and beat up bad guys.
Being a karate master will also impress my friends. We had a Halloween party, so you can imagine how surprised they will be when they see me break a concrete block with my bare hand!
Anyway, I’m off to practice some serious martial arts that are legal. Do any of you want to learn karate or any other martial arts Let me know. Later, Simon

There are only a few days before Christmas and I still haven’t done any Christmas shopping! I’ve been doing nothing but sleeping, playing video games and eating chocolate and candy since my Christmas break started. All of the sugar has made my hands a bit shaky, but I still managed to finish a game today. My parents have been so busy with shopping and making plans for Christmas that they haven’t seemed to really notice my sleeping and eating patterns. That’s one of the great things about the holidays —you get time off school, and parents are usually too busy to notice how you’re spending your free time.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to use my time off to figure out what I’m getting for Christmas. I’ve checked my parent’s usual and obvious hiding spots, but haven’t found anything other than socks and some chocolates (which I already ate). So that means they either haven’t finished buying gifts for me or I’m going to be opening presents that I don’t want on Christmas Day. I guess Christmas isn’t supposed to be about just getting gifts, so I should be thankful that I’m getting anything at all —at least that’s what my mom keeps telling me.
Well, I probably won’t write a blog again until the New Year, so enjoy the holidays and have a Merry Christmas!
