Wearing the wrong type of glasses will do harm to your eyes. This is not true for adults although incorrect glasses may be not good for children under 10. Ready-made (特制的) glasses, and not wearing glasses when you should, won’t do harm to your eyes but you may see better with glasses that are specially made for you.
Watching too much television is bad for your eyes. This is not true. People with easily affected eyes may find they get red and aching from staring at a fixed distance for long periods, but there won’t be any lasting effects.
Carrots will help you see in the dark. Carrots are rich in beta carotene, which the body can change into vitamin A, too little of which can cause night blindness. C. a number of eye problems D. eye trouble for a short time
61. Night blindness is most likely caused by _____________.

Remembering names is an important social skill. Here are some ways to master it.
Recite and repeat in conversation.
When you hear a person’s name, repeat it.Immediately say it to yourself several times without moving your lips. You could also repeat the name in a way that does not sound forced or artificial.
Ask the other person to recite and repeat.
You can let other people help you remember their names. After you’ve been introduced to someone, ask that person to spell the name and pronounce it correctly for you. Most people will be pleased by the effort you’re making to learn their names.
Admit you don’t know.
Admitting that you can’t remember someone’s name can actually make people relaxed. Most of them will feel sympathy if you say.“I’m working to remember names better.Yours is right on the tip of my tongue. What is it again?”
Use associations.
Link each person yon meet with one thing you find interesting or unusual. For example, you could make a mental note: "Vicki Cheng -- tall, black hair. " To reinforce they are your associations, write them on a small card as soon as possible.
Limit the number of new names you learn at one time.
When meeting a group of people, concentrate on remembering just two or three names. Free yourself from remembering every one. Few of the people in mass introductions expect you to remember their names. Another way is to limit yourself to learning just first names. Last names can come later.
Go early.
Consider going early to conferences, parties and classes. Sometimes just a few people show up on time. That's fewer names for you to remember. And as more people arrive, you can hear them being introduced to others -- an automatic review for you.
63. How will most people feel when you try hard to remember their names?
A. They will be moved. B. They will be annoyed.
C. They will be delighted. D. They will be discouraged.
64. If you can't remember someone's name, you may ______________.

C. ask him for pity D. ask others to help you
65. When you meet a group of people, it is better to remember _____________.
A. all their names B. a couple of names first
C. just their last names D. as many names as possible
(C)
Someday a stranger will read your e-mail without your permission or scan the websites you’ve visited. Or perhaps someone will casually glance through your credit card purchases or cell phone bills to find out your shopping preferences or calling habits.
In fact, it’s likely some of these things have already happened to you. Who would watch you without your permission? It might be a spouse, a girlfriend, a marketing company, a boss, a cop or a criminal. Whoever it is, they will see you in a way you never intended to be seen—the 21st century equivalent (equal) of being caught naked.
Psychologists tell us boundaries (dividing line) are healthy, that it’s important to reveal yourself to friends, family and lovers in stages, at appropriate times. But few boundaries remain. The digital bread pieces you leave everywhere make it easy for strangers to reconstruct who you are, where you are and what you like. In some cases, a simple Google search can reveal what you think. Like it or not, increasingly we live in a world where you simply cannot keep a secret.
The key question?is:?Does that matter?
For many Americans, the answer apparently is “no.”
When opinion polls (民意测验) ask Americans about privacy, most say they are concerned about losing it. A survey found an overwhelming (very large) pessimism about privacy, with 60 percent of respondents saying they feel their privacy is “slipping away, and that bothers me.”
But people say one thing and do another. Only a tiny part of Americans change any behaviors in an effort to preserve (protect) their privacy. Few people turn down a discount at tollbooths (收费站) to avoid using the EZ-Pass system that can track automobile movements. And few turn down supermarket loyalty cards. Privacy economist Alessanfro Acquisti has run a series of tests that reveal people will surrender personal information like Social Security numbers just to get their hands on a pitiful 50-cents-off coupon (优惠券).
But privacy does matter—at least sometimes. It’s like health: when you have it, you don’t notice it. Only when it’s gone do you wish you’d done more to protect it.
66.What would psychologists advise on the relationships between friends?
A. Friends should open their hearts to each other.
B. Friends should always be faithful to each other.
C. There should be a distance even between friends.
D. There should be fewer disputes between friends.
67.Why does the author say “we live in a world where you simply cannot keep a secret” ?
A. Modern society has finally developed into an open society.
B. People leave traces around when using modern technology.
C. There are always people who are curious about others’ affairs.
D. Many search engines profit by revealing people’s identities.
68.What do most Americans do about privacy protection?
A. They change behaviors that might disclose their identity.
B. They use various loyalty cards for business deals.
C. They rely more and more on electronic devices.
D. They talk a lot but hardly do anything about it.
69.According to the passage, privacy is like health because ________.

Questions 11 through 13 are based on the following passage.
Dear Mom.
Spending two weeks of my vocation in the mountains away from the city is great. I have been working hard on my drawing and painting. Today is Wednesday, my fifth day here and everything seemed to be fine until this morning. Yesterday morning, the weatherman warned us of a sharp change in weather at the end of the week. But temperature started to drop in the late afternoon and it went down to around zero at night. I had to wake up every two hours during the night to put more fire in my wood stove to keep the inside water pipes from freezing. Staying warm is almost a full-time job. I could hardly do any work. My neighbours John and Helen and I are about the only ones with running water. Others’pipes are frozen. John said if I hadn’t kept my water running, our pipe line up the hill would have frozen too.
I would never have believed that it could be so cold here if I had not lived it. So, as they say, “Seeing is believing”. But don’t worry, I’ll be OK.
Love,
Jack
Questions:
11. What is the paragraph you have just heard?
12. When did Jack go up the mountains?
13. What was the most important thing Jack had to do that night?
Questions 14 through 16 are based on the following passage.
In an American study found, on average, a child watches 4 and 1/2 hours of telephone each week day and 10 hours on Saturday and Sunday. It was also noted that a child watches 25000hours of television before his or her 18th birthday. And the amount of times spent for children from lower economic families is even greater. In the life of children, watching television is the most significant entertainment experience followed by sports activities, video games and shopping. Children spend more time with TV than he or she spends---talking to parents, attending school or reading books. However watching TV is not a positive event, it takes too much of the time. It suggests violence and sells unwanted products, and worst of all, viewers have to be completely in active while watching TV. The viewer’s body , as well as his mind, is controlled by the TV program and he is not making any active body movement or mind thinking which gradually harms the viewer.
14. What did the study measure?
15. What is the most important entertainment activity for children?
16. What is the worst effect of watching TV on viewers?

Blanks 21through 24 are based on the following conversation.
W:Hello, Professor Nelson. You’ve been invited to attend a 3-day conference in Brighton and to give a report on your latest research.
M: That’s great. When does it start?
W: On the fifth of next month.
M: That doesn’t leave me much time to prepare a report.
W: You still have got a week. This is a chance not to be missed. Many famous scientists from all over the world will be at the conference.
M: Yes, I know that, but…
W: Are you going?
M: No, I’m afraid not. I’m going on a business trip to New York at the end of the month. This Friday, in fact. But, since you know, I was asked to have a report to be read at the conference. I was wondering whether you would mind reading it for me.
W: No. It’s my pleasure to do something for you.
