II. Something about my class: There are 65 pupils (34 boys and 31 girls) in my class. Most of them like learning English and joining all my activities in my class. But there are few students they are afraid to speak English very loudly. I often try my best to encourage them to open their mouths to speak English, such as some easier words, expressions and sentences.
III. Talking about the contents of this period: This lesson includes three parts: Let's
learn, Let’s find out and Let's try. In Section 1, it mainly deals with the important
words about seasons. In Section 2, it provides some activities about talking the weather of each season. In Sections 3, it mainly talks about the students’ favourite season.
IV. Teaching aims & demands of this period:
a. Aims & demands on the knowledge.
1. To enable my Ss to understand and speak the following words: season, spring, summer, fall, winter, warm, hot, cool, cold, sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy and snowy.
2. To help my Ss to ask and answer the questions: (1)-What’s the weather like in spring/summer/fall/winter –It’s warm/hot/coo/cold. (2)-What’s your favourite season –I like … best.
3. To help my Ss finish the assessment of "Let's try" in this part.
b. Aims and demands on the abilities.
1. To develop my Ss' abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
2. To train my Ss' ability of working in groups.
3. To foster my Ss' abilities of communication and their innovation.
c. Aims and demands on the emotion.
1. To foster my Ss' consciousness of good co-operation and proper competition.

VIII. Teaching Procedures of this period:
Step I: Warm-up
1. Greeting with the whole class by using the oral drills: How are you today What’s the weather like today What’s your favourite colour and so on.
2. Sing the English song: “What’s Your Favourite Food” & “Weekend”.
3. Play the game: “Simon Says.” Lead the Ss do the actions like teacher says. Like this: “Simon says: climb mountains…”
Step II: Preview
1. Show the Ss some pictures of different weather. Ask and answer: What’s the weather like today Help the students answer them correctly.
2. Ask the Ss:-What’s your favourite colour/food/drink/clothes & Encourage them to answer them correctly.
(Purpose: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss by practicing the drills the Ss have learnd and at the same time it provides situations to review learned knowledge for the next step.)
Step III: Presentation
Activity 1: Teaching the new words. First I’ll tell the Ss there are four seasons in a year. Then I’ll show the pictures of four seasons and teach them each word. Finally play the tape for the Ss to listen and repeat. Make sure they can read the words correctly. (Purpose: Showing pictures on the screen can provide a real situation for the Ss to understand the meaning of the new words of Let’s learn.)
Activity 2: Play the guessing game. Divide the whole class into four groups to have a competition. First I’ll ask all the Ss to sit facing the back wall. Then I’ll show the pictures of four seasons and ask some individual Ss to guess what season it is. If the Ss guess correctlly. I’ll say “Yes”. If the Ss guess wrong I’ll say “No” and ask him/her to guess again. The group guessing best is the winner. (Purpose: Having a competition can make the Ss revise the words they learnd just now and arouse the interest of learning English well.)
Activity 3: Let’s chant. First get the Ss chant the sentences after me one by one. There are four seasons in a year. Spring, summer, fall and winter. Spring is green. Summer is bright. Fall is golden. Winter is white. What season do you like Finally get the Ss chant the sentences in pairs and groups. (Purpose: To present the key structures one by one is much easier for the Ss to learn and grasp the meanings. Practicing in pairs or groups can help the Ss finish a task together.)
Activity 4: Ask and answer. First I’ll ask some individual Ss: What’s your favourite season & help them answer the question correctly. Then get the Ss ask and answer the question in pairs. Finally play the game: To Be a Reporter. Find some volunteers to be reporters and ask the other Ss: What’s your favourite season Why Get the Ss sk and answer the questions: “What’s the weather like in spring/Summer/fall/winter ” in the same way. (Purpose: Task-based teaching methods is used here to develop Ss' ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained.)
Step IV. Add-activity: Make a survey in groups. Get the Ss ask their groupmates: What’s your favourite season Write down their answers and role play. Then get the Ss finish the following chart.

(Purpose: Revision is so important that Ss should speak English as much as they as in class or after class. It is necessary for the Ss to do some extensive exercises after class to consolidate the knowledge they learned.)
Step VI: Homework
1. Draw four seasons, colour them and write down their names.
2. Talk about your friends’ favourite season in pairs.
