4. Whose eraser is white?
5. When do you need to use a pencil?
6. It’s such a long ruler. Where can you put it? In the pencil case or in the school bag?
7. Why is this pen so special?It looks so funny.Where did you get it?
8. How can I use this tape correctly? Who can help me?
Teachers write these sentences on the blckboard. Ask Ss to talk about these wh- questions.
Ask Ss to read the table on Page61. Grasp the meanings and using of What, which, who, whose, when, where, why, how.
Step2. Practice
Ask Ss to finish PartA, Page 61.( two minutes)
Check the answers.( the answers are : whose who what which)

Read the following passage:
I’m Wendy’s friend. My name is Kate and I’m from the USA.
Halloween is my favourite festival. I often spend this day with my family and my cousin Tom. On that day, I wear special colourful clothes and a black-and-white mask. When I dress up, it looks so cool. We are very excited because we can play a game called “ trick or treat”. Of course, the big day ends with a big party. Mom cooks nice food for us, Dad prepares cool drinks, and funny Tom tells funny jokes. We eat,talk, and laugh till ten p.m. That’s really great.
Ask Ss to work in pairs. Ask Wh- questions as much as possible.
E.g. 1) Who’s Kate?
2) Whose cousin is Tom?
3) What does Kate tell us?
4) How does she celebrate Halloween?
5) Why are they very excited on that day?
6) What do they eat in the party?
7) Where do you think they have the party?
8) When do they end their party?
Step4. Activity
1. Ss make some dialogues using the following Wh- questions:

Now let’s play a guessing game .We have known a lot of festivals. I will tell you something about one festival. Then you should tell me what the festival it is.
Mid-autumn: On that day ,we often eat mooncakes and watch the moon….
Teachers’ Day: We often give flowers and cards to our teachers on that day….
Halloween: We often play a game called “trick or treat”…
Chinese New Year: Children can get red packets and families can get together…

.1. Now let’s learn more about Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year is a traditional festival in China. On Chinese New Year’s Eve, people often watch TV from 8pm to midnight and let off the fireworks.We often watch the lion dance and make ,eat dumplings.We all feel excited during the Chinese New Year.

Ask some Ss to read out the different paragraphs. Check for the correct answers and pronunciation.
Ask Ss to work in groups to make another writing plan of their favourite festivals, using Millie’s plan as a model
Show Ss an example of the writing plan for Chinese New Year.
Ask Ss to finish the plan and they should make sure the contents in the poster are exactly focus on the plan.

Step 1 lead-in
Use a calendar and point the date “October 1st” and say : Look, it is red. Can you tell me why ? Yes, because it’s a festival. It’s National Day. In the same way, show the Children’s Day and New Year’s Day to help the Ss understand the word “festival”.
Turn he calendar to the date October 31st and introduce “Halloween” to the Ss. Say : Halloween is a festival of western countries. It comes on 31 October. I think it’s a funny day for children because they have lots of interesting activities to do , such as dressing themselves up like ghosts. Look, just like what Hobo is doing. Guide Ss to look at the third picture on P56.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Look at the comic strip and ask: What’s Hobo doing? Why is Hobo dressing himself up as a ghost? Because it’s Halloween today. People always celebrate this festival by dressing up, eating nice food, singing and dancing.
2. Listen to the tape and ask: Eddie and Hobo are celebrating Halloween . Are they happy?
3. Read after the tape and answer:
(1) What does Hobo dress up at first?
(2) What does he dress up later?
4. Language points

Step 3 Practice
Read after the tape again . Then read it in two roles. Then Ss do role-play.
Step 4 Presentation (welcome to the unit)
T: Halloween is a famous and important western festival. Do you know other western festivals? And do you know any Chinese traditional festivals? Talk with Ss about some traditional Chinese and western festivals.
Have Ss complete Part A on P57. Ss read the festivals after the teacher.
T: For different festivals people have different ways to celebrate. For example, when the Mid-autumn Day comes, Chinese people will get together in a family group and have a big dinner. When night falls, we enjoy the full moon and eat a kind of special cakes in the shape of the full moon—moon cakes.
Then talk about how to celebrate the other festivals on P57.
Step 5 Practice
Ask: What’s your favourite festival? Why do you like it? What do you usually do on that day?
Listen to the tape of Part B on P57 and answer:
