Get the students to answer the following questions:
1) What are people in Korea supposed to do when they are at table?
2) What kind of rules do they have in the USA when they are at table?
3) What are you supposed to do when you are at table in China?

1)学习并掌握下列单词:

2. Leading-in“导入新课”
1)处理教材1a
(1) Point to the picture and ask students to say what is happening in it.
(2) Point to the title, Mind your manners! and ask students what they think it might mean.
(3) Read the instructions and point to the five statements about manners.
(4) Then ask students to complete the quiz on their own.
(5) 提问学生说出答案,教师同时教如下的短语:(教师结合一些句子口头造句)
at the table / at table 在桌子旁边/ 在吃饭
It’s not polite to laugh at table.
The little boy is doing his homework at the table.
pick up 拾起,捡起/ 取物,接人

She is late for class again and she is supposed to say sorry to the teacher.

1. 机械操练 (Mechanical Drills)
1) 处理教材中的1b
(1) 结合图画简介对话内容:
Look at the four pictures. You will hear the exchange student Steve, talking with his Japanese friend, Satoshi. Satoshi is explaining some things you are and aren’t supposed to do when eating in Japan. Point to the boxes where students are supposed to write a number next to each picture. Say, Number these 1 through 3 to show the order you hear Satoshi talk about, these things in the recording.
(2) 放录音,学生做题。
(3) 检查答案。
2) 处理教材中的1c
(1) 放一遍录音,让学生回答:What does Satoshi feel nervous about?
(2) 再放一遍录音,让学生做题。(到关键句时停顿一下,给学生思考和做题的时间。)
(3) 检查答案,并板书三个重点句然后进行分析,学生读。

2. Explain:
1) It’s polite…to do…做……是礼貌的 
这一句型真正的主语是不定式,it只是形式主语。如:
It’s rude to point your chopstick at others. 
用筷子指着别人是不礼貌的。
2) point at anyone with your chopsticks.   
用筷子指着某人。
(1) point…at… 瞄准,对着。如:
 point a telescope at the moon    
让望远镜对着月亮。
(2) point to 指向;表示。如:
 Both the hour hand and the minute hand pointed to twelve.
 时针和分针都指着十二。
3. 让学生读听力材料,记课本上的句子。
2. 有意义操练 (Meaningful Drills)
1d Role-play the conversations.
A: We’re supposed to ...
B: Yes, and it’s impolite to ...
3. 交际性操练 (Communicative Drills)
Imagine you go to a place, then role-play the conversation.
A: How much do you know about table manners in Japan?
B: You’re not supposed to start eating first if there are older people at the table in Japan.

Activity 1c:
Listen to the conversations and complete the sentences. 朗读1c句子,明确其含义。
2. Role-play the conversations using the information in 1c and 1d.

(Ask some students to give answers)
2) Revise the phrasal verbs that taught last class by asking students to make sentences with them again. Check homework by asking students to read their sentences and conversations to the class.

1. 速读 (Fast Reading)
Wang Kun is having a great time on his exchange program in France. It’s even better than it would be. He has known many table manners in France .He is gradually getting used to things and don’t find them so strange any more.
Question: Why did she have no reason to be nervous?

仔细理解课文内容,回答下列问题。
1) Why is Wang Kun in France?
2) Does she enjoy staying with her host family? How do you know?
3) How does she feel about making mistakes when she speaks French?
4) What is the biggest challenge she is facing?

教师首先播放录音,学生跟读,然后学生自由朗读。教师抽查学生朗读情况,
时纠正读音、语调、停顿等。

学生再进一步阅读,找出短文中的重点句子、短语,发现疑难点,小组内讨论,学生发言解答,教师适当点拨.学生完成笔记.

1) Read the sentences and replace the underlined words with the phrases in the box.
2) First talk in groups, then share their answers.

Review the passage and make notes about French customs in the chart.

Compare the table manners in France and China in your group. How are they the same or different? Make a list.
