Teaching aims and demands:
1. Go on learning the present perfect tense.
2. Go on talking about the problem of the increasing population.
3. Lead students to have right ideas of population.
Teaching procedure:
一、Review
1. Review the new words and expressions in this topic and then have a dictation.
2. Show some cards with big rumbers, Let students read them.
3. Ask some questions to review Seecton B, and then lead to 1a.
T: What’s the population of China/ India/ the U.S.A
Ss: …
T: What country has the langest population in the world
Ss: China.
T: What problem do you think China’s large population will cause
二、Presenta tion
1. Listen to 1a and finish 1b, and then check the answers.
2. Read 1a again, Talk about the key sentences.
(1)That’s almost half of the world’s population.
(2)…and about one fifth of the people in the world live in China.

2. Read 2a and finish 2b alone, then check the answers.
五、Projevt
Work in groups、let students read the questcois in 3, share the information they have collected about China’s population with each other, then discuss and write a composition about the population problem in China.
