Step 1 Warming up
Enjoy the movie trailer about Geostorm.
Then talk about where to see the movie. Through the page of Internet, you can compare three different movie theaters with their tickets, distance and seats.
T: Where do you want to go?
S1: I want to Feishang Guoji City because it’s the cheapest.
S2: I don’t think so. I will go to Huayi Brother Cinema. It’s the closest to my home.
T: Except that, we can compare the seats.
S3: Jumu City has the most comfortable seats.
T: You can sit the most comfortably.
Step 2 Key vocabulary
Task 1 Read the instructions.
Talk about which one is important for a movie theater. Then teach students read these words.
Task 2 Read each item to the class. Ask the students to explain what the word or phrase means in their own words.
Task3 Ask students to decide which of the things are important and which are not important. Write their answers.
Task4. Find out which items students think are the most important.
Step 3 Guessing games
Task 1 Look and say.
Look the picture and guess which one is the most cheapest, the newest movie, the most popular and the closest to home. Which movie theater has the biggest screens, the best sound or the most comfortable seats?. Which movie theater buy tickets the most quickly?
Through playing the game, students can master the sentence easily and relaxingly.
Task 2 Point to the chart. Explain the meaning of any phrases students don’t know.
Task 3 Point to the list of Movie theaters in the instructions and the blank lines under the Movie theater heading.
Task 4 Play the recording the first time. Students only listen.
Task 5 Play again. Ask students to write the names of each movie theater on the blank line.
Task 6 Check the answers.
Step 4 Pair work
Task 1 Ask students to look at the pictures in activity 1a. Then ask students to read the sample conversations in activity 1c.
Task 2 Ask students to read the instructions to the class .
Task 3 Ask students to work in pairs and make their own conversations about the movie theater in the picture.
Task 4 Ask some pairs to present one or more of their conversations to the class.
Step 5 Homework
1 Remember the vocabulary and the target language.
2 Review the superlative degree of adjectives.
