Ⅰ、Analysis of the Teaching Material
The topic of this unit is a taste of English humor. It mainly introduces the greatest actor and master of nonverbal humor, Charlie Chaplin and his convincing performance in “The Gold Rush”. As for grammar, the students are required to master the different uses of –ing form as predictive, attributive, object complement and adverbial. Meanwhile, the students are encouraged to be hopeful and optimistic about life, and learn to be humorous by having a taste of different kinds of both English and Chinese humor.

High School students in Grade 2 have already mastered a certain number of English vocabulary and reading skills. They are able to express personal opinions clearly and accurately in English.
