《英语课程标准》二级目标要求学生能借助图片、图像、手势听懂简单的话语或录音材料；能就日常生活话题作简短叙述；能认读所学词语和短语；能根据图片、词语或例句的提示，写出简短的语句。在具体语境中了解一般现在时的意义和用法，并在实际运用中体会；敢于开口，表达中不怕出错误；积极参与各种课堂学习活动；在小组活动中能与其他同学积极配合和合作，并乐于接触外国文化，增强祖国意识。
由此可知，在读懂文本内容的层面，应该让学生理解文本，用There be句型描述一个地方的特征。在表达层面，学生能够在老师的帮助下表演课本对话，进行角色扮演，并对课文进行复述。
教材解读
本模块包括两个单元，本课是第一单元，课文情境是Daming在给家人发邮件。Simon得知Daming想家了，提出带Daming去唐人街。Daming请Simon介绍唐人街的情况，Simon告诉Daming，唐人街有很多中国商店和餐厅，还有中国的舞狮、舞龙等表演。而本课的学习重点就是用There be句型描述了唐人街所拥有的事物。
学情分析
本课的学习重点是复习和巩固There be句型的一般现在时用法，学习运用这一句型介绍一个地方的特征。学生在四年级和五年级时已经接触过There be句型的一般现在时，例如There are only nineteen crayons.There is one on the floor. 等等。涉及到的结构是There is+可数名词单数，There are+可数名词复数，这也是学生的已知领域。但是本课学生要接触There is+不可数名词的用法，这是学生的未知领域，对学生来说，有一定的难度。
学习目标
1. 借助图片和录音，能正确听辨、认读 dancing, Chinatown, sometimes, shop, then。做到发音清晰、准确，并能够正确书写sometimes,shop,then。
2.能正确认读重点句型There’s Chinese dancing. There are lots of Chinese shops and restaurants there.
3. 借助图片和录音材料，了解文本大意，回答相关简单问题。
4. 能运用There be句型描述一个自己去过的地方，并能够正确完成语句书写。
