指导思想：通过学生自主学习，探究和设疑，充分发挥学生的主观能动性，激发学生潜能；学生作为最灵动的教学资源，调动学生学习的积极性，为学生创设广阔的展示空间和平台，挖掘学生的潜能；教师教的目的是不教，授人以渔是教师最大的责任。
理论依据： 结合目前正在研究的《思维导图在初中英语阅读教学中的应用的研究》课题，本课重点采用思维导图指导教学的教学策略，帮助学生梳理文章脉络，从整体把握文正结构。通过阅读前的思维导图激活学生思维模式中的语言图式和内容图式，为学生自读课文扫清词汇障碍，调动已有的背景知识；通过阅读中的问题解答，学生小组活动讨论并构建文本的思维导图，共同梳理文本的结构图式，教师指导猜词技巧。通过阅读后的课文复述，培养学生语言表达能力，将本课的文本输入转化为语言输出，达到综合语言运用能力的提高。
教材分析：本课是一篇阅读课，内容选自人教版英语教科书八年级上册Unit5。本课主要围绕迪士尼卡通片鼻祖人物---米老鼠展开话题，讨论学生们喜闻乐见的动画人物的成长历程和人们喜欢这一卡通人物的原因。从文本内容来说，这篇阅读课文是整个单元话题内容深层次的探究，尤其是卡通人物对当时人们的影响这方面。学生在已有语言知识的基础上，通过阅读丰富自己的语句，拓展自己的思维，使自己的综合语言运用能力得到全面提升。
学情分析：学生在前几课时中已经掌握了不同种类电视节目的表达方式，以及如何对这些电视节目进行评论的基本用法。
