Thank you for your listening.Distinguished guests,
Good morning! I’m very honoured and grateful to stand here and share with you the topic: Alexander the Great and Socrates.
There are some similarities between them. Both of them were from Greece and had a great influenc on the world.
Alexander the Great was one of the greatest military genius in history, who spread the Greek ideas, culture and life style from Europe to Africa and Asia. He marched his army in many directions with the intention of occupying the entire world. Unfortunately for him, at the age of 33, he died of a fever, after which his kingdom was divided among his generals. Socrates was the father of Western philosophy, who had a deep influence on Western thought and science. He created the “Socratic Method” in teaching by asking his students many challenging questions until they appoached the truth. However, he questioned too much and often made his students embarrassed and angry, aware of their own errors. Finally, some people had enough of him and took him to court. Howerer, at his trial, he defended himself by asking his judges yet more questions and was forced to drink poison.
As a student, I think we should learn from him because he is the hero of all people who search for the truth.
Thank you for your listening.Part BProjectMaking a poster about a historial figureThree steps:
